Hi Walter, and welcome to ECF! Enjoyed your story and also use the Halo Triton. The Kangers in my opinion, are great, and I have several of them...no probs. You may or may not know that there is a Halo sub forum here. After making 5 posts you can navigate most places here. We would love to hang out with you, we're a crazy bunch! Believe me, you would make a fine addition to the 'Halons' !!!! And have you tried Halo's tobacco sampler? Also Nicoticket has a great tobacco ejuice called H1N1. It's awesome. But taste is a very subjective thing.

Hi Walt, welcome to ECF.
Well that was pleasant to read. I do not possess that gift so you will need to bear with me. I think you will be very happy with the MVP 2. It is a great mod for $40.00. The pass thru is a great feature, and battery life is fantastic.
I use around 1.8 ohm on mine, but I also rebuild and replace coils daily. If you don't want the hassle, go a bit higher.
The protank is a good choice. If you don't mind me putting my .02 in, I would recommend buying a 5 pack of extra coils with the tank. You can save on shipping then and will have extras. The resistance will not be that big of a deal with variable power.
I won't even get into juices, (well a little, see banner) we all love our own brand. What I did though is went to the ECF juice of the year results page and tried a few from the best. They have it broken down to tobacco, bakery, fruit, ect. It should help with your future juice decisions.

Hello Walter. Welcome. I'm a former 30 year smoker on vape day #21. I too left a partial pack sitting out on my desk for 2 whole weeks. It was actually an Altoids can, I was a RYO guy for 3 years. I finally tossed them because they were stale anyway. Not many "quitters" I know could have done that.

As to the MVP. I suggest that you get at least one or two Mini Protank 2s. I have 3 of them. They are much more streamlined than the big PT2. You can lay the MVP down on any one of its sides and the tank stays well clear of the surface. In 3 weeks, I have not had a single drop of juice leak out of them in my pocket or anywhere else that I have put them. They are also very easy to clean. I rinse all of the parts including the coils under warm water every time I change flavors. I never dry burn them. I just reassemble, fill with juice, draw through it until I can taste the flavor, and then vape right on through the water in the wicks. Only takes a few puffs. I highly recommend them.

Good luck,
Michael

One more quick question: with the MVP 2.0 and ProTank 2 combined, which coil do you recommend? How many ohms? I'm not a fan of the burned and/or hot taste, so am I correct in assuming that 1.8 would not be a good choice?

[/QUOTE]
I could make a suggestion that you try several different resistance coils between 1.8 & 2.5 ohms. It's all personal preference, but this range will work flawlessly with the device you have, as well as any future purchases ( looking below, it was already recommended); I typically like 2.2 ohm coils.

This gives me a coil that heats up pretty quick and helps prolong battery life between charges. Sometimes I find the 1.8's burn certain juices, anything higher than 2.5 and I feel like it takes too long to get hot.

Don't forget to have backups. Good thing about trying new equipment is having some. Stinks to have a battery die or break and ponder going back to tobacco.
I had 9 months of stressful back and forth to court with my ex over custody issues (taking away some of his, him not paying medical etc) and I charged my extra battery for my mod and in a mad rush to put on suit and get kids to school forgot it and couldn't turn back! Needless to say with the stress... Was seriously pondering a pack of smokes but it dawned on me gas station sell disposables... Imagine my surprise when I saw they sold a little ego kit! Bit pricey (15 bucks) but I slapped my tank on her and did my thing at court. I've gotten better about making sure a charged ego lives buried in my laptop bag always now :)

Welcome to the forum!

For a no-muss, no-fuss setup, I'd suggest a good cartomizer tank or a good bottom coil setup (Like the Protank II or III, or one of the Aspire tanks).

I've no experience with the Protank IIIs yet, but I will say that occasionally the II series can be a little finicky, but if you read the forums enough you'll see that the general consensus is pretty favorable.

I re-coil my Protank heads, and generally try to stay around 2 - 2.2 ohms. That seems to be MY preference. YMMV.

Hi and Welcome to ECF.

I'm a little behind on u there Walter, Ive only begun to watch Breaking Bad and am now a few episodes into Season 2. Hey don't blame me, the GF made me watch American Idol and So u Think u can Dance and The Voice, and so on, wait just looking around and nope she's out of the room, whew.

The Protank 2 is a great clearo, u should have good success with it, also the Iclear 30 are just as good IMHO.

Keep this in mind Walt, Water and Backups for your Backups are your best friends.

Take care glad to have met you, oh and how's Walt Jr? Lol.

I a not a huge fan of the pro tanks. Bit too fiddly for me, but I did and do like evods. I will continue to use them for sampling juices.
I got into carto tanks and I'm loving them. Two big thumbs up!
I tried a bunch of clearos and that's what I liked, but whatever works for you... Just limit yourself (ie don't buy 10 of something right off bat) and don't be afraid to try stuff... You never know!
I recommended evods to a coworker (I also loaned him batteries for several weeks) and then gave him a vivi nova to try. I didn't care for them as much but he liked it a lot so I grabbed my 3 tanks and all the heads in to work for him. There are lots of options because different people like diff things!

I too enjoyed your story. Some parts made me laugh.

I'm still researching for my next step up in hardware. I have a long & short cigalike, an ego 900mah and an ego twist 1k mah on order. I'm also still finding my flavors I like the most as I might want to try my hand at DIY juicing.

I wish you the best in your quest to be a 100% vapor and have all the fun toys too.

Hi and welcome to ECF. Great story. MVP2 is a winner, I will be surprised if you do not love it. On coil resistance, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 are good choices. You want something that you can turn the voltage up and down on to fine tune the taste of your juice. Anything under 2.0 will limit your ability to do that.

I wrote a little blog post that has a few links to juice vendors and places to trade your juices and other stuff. Click on the number next to where it says Blog. It will give you links to read. Remember drink lots of water, vaping is dehydrating. And have fun with this.

Wow! I cannot thank you all enough for the great information and feedback. Truly, I don't know what to say. I wish I could thank you all personally, but there are probably bandwidth limits that would prevent that sort of thing. Either way, this experience has already exceeded my expectations. Thank you! :)

I had a feeling about the cig-a-likes. They sparked my interest in vaping, so I have to give them a little credit. I just don't think they are designed (yet) for those of us who chain-vape. They included a PCC, but to keep up with my habit, I would have had to order at least three or four more. My first kit was actually from V2, but I won't slander them as a company because they do have excellent customer service and are obviously loved by many vapers around the world. Cig-a-likes just simply don't cut it for my everyday needs. I forgot to mention that I also have their Power Cig, but I believe the voltage is a little too high--especially for cartonizers. Don't get me wrong--it's nice for a quick fix, but it can be a rather hot vaping experience.

The number of options can be rather daunting, but in a good way. I have taken many notes and I am already looking forward to trying a variety of these different batteries, tanks, cartonizers, coils, etc. I know we sometimes regret spending so much money on new items, but trust me, all of this is eons more affordable than pipe smoking, where you cannot find a decent pipe for less than $60. Of course, cigarettes are $5.30 per pack here, so that is one less expense as well.

I really appreciate the YouTube advice. It didn't occur to me to even search there, so you can imagine my surprise when I found an entire library of vaping information. I'm looking forward to checking out the blog and Halo forum as well. :)

As for Pinkman. Jesse Pinkman. Do you know what he actually did the other day? He shows up at my work with this shoddy, embarrassing knockoff of my product (my product!) and says that he wants to cut me in. No, no, no. I cut him in. After all I've done for that kid...

Sorry, I won't spoil it any further for those who haven't seen it. Thanks again!
