Common sense goes a long way in life, I dont vape anywhere that smoking isnt allowed, just to avoid confrontation. If the person next to you can smoke analogs then go for it, if not be considerate of others and dont step outside and vape with smokers. I imagine there was once a time when you had to go without a cigarette for an hour or so before you had to get up and go smoke, I find it hard to imagine you couldnt wait til you walked outside to vape for a minute and then go back inside. Afterall you switched for your help so getting up and walking else where would be beneficial with that train of thought and taking a break from your desk is beneficial to recharging you during the day

umm how about you keep your job and vape outside? what world do you live in where quitting your freaking job because they wont let you use your ecig inside is even an option.

That's not the only reason just the icing on top. Just another small matter is that I'm at work sick as .... but have to be here because we don't have the staffing to cover someone being sick. There of course are many other reasons just the topic for today was e cig. Really didnt help my mood bc I feel like .... and now I get to walk outside and hide in my car to vape. So if you're telling myle that you would be all gung ho about that kind of work environment let me get you an app.

I work for a large company on a multi-building campus and we can currently vape freely (although we're careful not to flaunt it...we're pretty blatent).

Got a survey in the 'ol e-mail bucket today asking if we, as employees, would support a tobacco free campus. My cube-mate and I rallied the forces and answered with an emphatic 'No!' (that won't help people quit) and then explained, in detail in the comments sections, why...with lots of pictures with paragraphs on the back of each one explaining what each one was (okay...we actually typed it with lots of info garnered from here and CASAA and recommended the company incorporate e-cigs into the existing smoking cessation programs but you get the drift). Then we e-mailed all our fellow vapers and suggested they do the same.

We may have drawn the gaze of the Great Eye of Sauron but I don't care. We march!

This describes a lot of work environments. People deal with these things all day, every day. But it seems that you are very unhappy, and I think you should look for work elsewhere.

My viewpoint has never changed, don't force the hand of the powers that be. I vape with the smokers and respect the rules simply because people are ignorant. Why encourage them to act against me out of fear of the unknown. When science proves vaping to be safe then I will go in guns blazing.

I think taking the fact that originally there were no laws against where you vaped as a free ticket to do it everywhere hurt our cause a lot. I have little doubt that it has a lot to do with the bans being pushed through at the state levels right now.

So today the entire company gets an e-mail stating that e cigs / vaping banned from the work place. The reasoning is that it creates vapor and people may be allergic. My market manager didn't like the idea of it a month or so ago. I just find it amusing that now we get an HR revision specifically for e cigs and vaping a month later. I was the first in this market I know BC my MM had no idea what it was. So now I have a decision to make, I can work for a local vape store and make less money or stick with a job that isn't entirely satisfying. Ideas, comments, or ramblings on the subject welcome..

Personally... Principals are great and all...but sadly you can't pay the bills with them. I'd be gung ho to work anyplace that pays well, and treats me modestly well. I certainly wouldn't downgrade my paycheck because I couldn't vape inside my work place...

I have the owner's permission to vape in my office. One day, one of his partners gave me some grief once about it. Without any hesitation, I told him to count on it every time he comes into my office. The next day, I hooked our theatrical smoke machine up outside of his office and filled it with vapor while he was at lunch. You should have seen the look on his face when he came back.

He ranted and raved and would not talk to me for weeks, but deep down, I think he knew it was an awesome prank.

Sorry to hear that. Just like life in general, companies are littered with ignorant reactionares who like their positions of power. They would rather "ban" than research, listen and learn. And they also could be anti-smoking zealots who are just too prejuidice to understand the difference.

I don't take it like that at all. I started another thread where I put for, and was approved to purchase PV's for the 10 smokers we have at work. Its an office building, with cubes. While we encourage people to take advantage of the offer, it is doubtful it will be allowed to vape at their cube. Some juices have odd smells...in addition, vapor can linger in the air as a cloud and can be seen if there's not good ventilation in that area. My company is about as cool as they come - I love working where I work. However, I guarantee if someone just began vaping at their desk, noticeably, it wouldn't be long before they were asked not to do so - and an email sent out. It would also be a distraction to others working around that vapor. Its just a matter of using common sense.

As part of the purchase I'm doing I've asked that one of the enclosed entrances and a spare office that isn't used be designated a vape zone. This provides incentive to staff to want to use the PV vs freeze their butts off in the cold Michigan winter.
