I'm new to vaping- day 5 in fact. At work, I used to step outside for a smoke about once an hour. Now I step outside to vape. It's seems weird. Absolutely no one around me does it. I just pretend that it is perfectly normal, which of course, it is. But for some reason, I feel like a fish out of water.... or that I'm under a microscope... or that people are making erroneous assumptions about what I am doing. I sure hope this passes soon enough.

LOL I wouldn't worry about it but it may get some getting used to. :) I carry my eGo proudly. Occasionally someone stops and asks "Oh! Is that the e-cigarette? Does it work?" at which point I tell them my success so far (75% reduction in cigarettes) without having had an intention to quit. Mind you, I am a middle aged woman and all dressed up for a professional job, so I guess I don't fit the image of someone who indulges in any other ummm acticivites... I also live in Hawaii where Volcano e-cigs is located so the local population is certainly very aware of e-cigarettes because they do a lot of TV advertising.

I walk around vaping all the time in public places. As a matter of fact, I went to dinner with my wife at this Korean BBQ place (which has plenty of vents all over) and I was sitting there eating and vaping while we shared a long table with strangers. The only person that said anything to me was the waiter which told me no smoking, then I told him its not a cigarette and he then told me no e cigarettes in here as well and I stopped. I know it's legal to vape indoors but just out of respect, I stopped.

Yeah..vaping use to be everywhere even indoor..but some place are not i guess (so its not so everywhere)
In 2011 i vape inside restaurant in a mall..the waiter come and say no smoking,i told him its e-cigarette..n what he say is: "oh cool,u can keep what u doing then" n smile..thats good.
But last month,i vape again in the mall n security manager came to me say "no smoking pls" n once again i told him its e-cigarette..what he say?"even e-cigarette not alowed, our aircond cant stand to process it..plus there always health officer around to fine whoever smoking and vaping in this mall"..i was like "...???is that a joke?ok then as u wish" n stop vaping..on same day,i also saw someone got fined by health officer in bowling area because of vaping..thats totally bull.... and ridiculous..
Just sharing.

I vape everywhere, all day at work - when i stroll into shops, in fact i am never without the thing and nobody much notices. I vape in my car and if anything people are more curious than anything.

However i do not do it in places where smoking is banned because most people that see a cloud of anything will assume it is tobacco smoke. It is easy enough to explain what it is, but vaping in such areas shows a certain arrogance and lack of respect imo and since we are all vapers i think it is important that we show it in a good light, as reasonable, tolerant people - rather than 'it's not smoking so i'll do as i please!'

I a newbie 2 weeks now and 1 week no analog, I work in a hospital and I work in 2 areas in the day, both of them know I quit and they dont mind and they ask me all the time so they can pass the info to the patients, I dont do it on front of the patient nor when big bosses are around. I asked HR regarding this a few days ago and I am still waiting for a reply.
Yesterday I was in an area thats has very little traffic and on a hidden corner and I was vaping very slow and normal like I had an analog, I took a hit vaped all the smoke gun and all of the sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw this person that perhaps saw the vape and came where I was and he saw me sitting there looking on my phone and stopped stood there for half a sec (may wondering what he saw was true or what in the world ?) then he did not turn he started to walk backwards. (I did not look at him nor said anything) as soon as he clear the corner I stood up. I turn the corner and I said hi to the doc.
His face was with a question mark!!! LOL his jaw was opened too!!! lol
I always try t be discreet and some times I lock my self in the bathroom so I can have a nice calm vales!!

lmao I play the song from the 80's in my head "smoking in the boys room"

I vape everywhere too...even in walmart you can find me under a cloud of vapor.

I was vaping in WalMart lastnight while looking for a more cat-proof storage option for my liquids and other accessories.

I was worried at first about when and where its appropriate. Started casually vaping at work without hiding in the bathroom or anything like that. I keep it out of the office because my sister works in there and she seems to be convinced that I am still smoking, she can't seem to stop herself from saying something. I got no comment from her when I vaped in her car though, so I guess she is coming along very slowly. Production floor... I couldn't care less what the perception is and if the boss or owner has an issue I would be happy to point them in the direction of some reading materials and let them make an informed decision on the topic. If they say go outside, they are losing valuable production time in the end, but I would be more than happy to appease them.

I'm just testing he waters everywhere I go, but I will be accomodating to any establishment which has a problem with it. I have yet to be told its not okay by anyone. As far as the funny looks from other patrons at bars... that cracks me up so I almost invite the looks. I'm at bars all the time, playing in a very active band. I'm sure it won't be long before I encounter a place with an e-cig ban but so far so good.

It is a little annoying that we have to go through so much hassle to partake in perfectly legal, unregulated activity. I work from home and don't go to bars very much, so I rarely find myself in a situation where I can't vape. The big one for me is at my sons rec sports games, which usually take place at a school. I puff away outside, but not once I go indoors out of respect. I do get funny looks occasionally, as all "Tobacco" products are banned from school property in Oregon. When I was still a hardcore smoker I used to tour with a children's theater company that performed at a lot of elementary schools, and I would always have to find a janitor or a lunch lady to find out the places where it was safe to smoke before the show. What a hassle!

The biggest thing for me is that I truly believe if people weren't so ignorant to what we are doing and the benefits of switching to vaping, we wouldn't have such a hard time. Hell, people should be CONGRATULATING us for making healthier decisions!

How about while driving? In NY the cell phones while driving thing has been kind of a big deal ticket for a while now. The way the law reads you aren't allowed to use any "hand-held electronic devices" while operating a motor vehicle. Technically, our PV devices would qualify there. Has anyone had a run in with the law over this?

We have the same laws in Ontario about "handheld electronic devices" and I've actually been pondering the same question. I would just hate to get pulled over by a cop that decides to take the wording that literally and end up with a $250 ticket.

I knew I wasn't the only one thinking about this. It attaches points to your license here and I've never had a single one. I'm pretty sure the way the DMV does it now here, you have to pay a certain fee per point on your license to renew your vehicle registration. It's another reason why I frequently refer to NY as "the land of oppression".

I started vaping some days ago, first day i got it i started vaping on work.

My boss just looked at me and asked if it works, same with some other workers.
Now i vape while im working and when we are on break i still go outside with the smokers
to chat and vape. Another worker also bought a e-cig after he tested mine.

4days with out real cigarettes :) Have not even missed them.
The best is when we are lying in bed, watching a movie and just vape, life is really good at the moment.
