Vaping is causing my tongue to go numb, dry lips, and lose taste

So yesterday I developed a weird sensation in my mouth. My mouth is dry, my tongue is numb, my lips are dry, and I lost taste for the juice! Any idea what is going on??

-vaping Hawk Juice 50/50 - can't taste it anymore

Every juice tastes funky now. Do I need to drink more? What can I do? This sucks! I was really enjoying vaping as a means to quit smoking but this is killing vaping for me big time.

you need to hydrate yourself, you just have vapors tongue, i usually drink alot of water and cokacola when i vape.

Consuming more water when vaping is important. In general, most people don't drink enough plain water to begin with.

yea, i've found myself drinking 2 20oz bottles of water at a local vape shop because i was just super thirsty haha.

As a general rule, the feeling of thirst is a late reminder of a less than optimal level of hydration. Every process in the body makes use of it! You can learn to properly hydrate for your metabolism by keeping a close eye on the color of your urine (laugh all you want, but barring specific medications that might affect the color, it is the best indicator of systemic hydration levels; too dark means you're below the proper level for your height/weight/metabolism)

Of course, there are more precise methods of determining hydration levels, but this is something easy to do! Forget the idea of a specific amount, as there are far too many variables between humans to make that truly effective!

Besides needing to drink a lot more water you might have the beginning of what's called Vapors tongue. Almost all vapers go through this. I know I did. Google vapers tongue. How long it lasts depends on the individual. Mine lasted about a month while my husband's lasted almost two. .it can be very frustrating not being able to taste your juice. What helped me was grinding fresh coffee grounds and inhaling the aroma through out the day. This is a trick many chocolate tasters use to re set your taste. It helped me.hopefully it will help you. Also drink lots of water and change up your juice flavors through out the day . Hope This helps ."best wishes"

Lots of water is essential, changing up flavors helps, I've heard of the coffee bean trick, and another thing that helps me is vaping unflavored for awhile.

You may have a PG allergy. I know two weeks after I started vaping I developed dry, swollen tender lips that burned bad. Sore throat. All kinds of bad things. I switched to Max VG blends and it's been smooth sailing since then

Adding a few slices of fruit to plain cold water can help also. Acidic fruits such as citrus are very helpful.

I just read another post about them resolving their vapors tongue by switching from MBV to a different vendor. I am using Hawk Sauce from MBV. Is that the same place you are getting your juice from? I am also at 24mg.. I wonder if we are both having the same issue.....

Another possible cure is to have a spoonful of Honey. Don't just swallow it though, let it cover your tongue etc.

absolutely, you get dark amber in the bowl you need to increase your H2O or juices (NOT containing caffeine as it's a diuretic {makes you pee more}) Pale yellow is ideal (straw we call it *lol*)

yeah laugh but this is a good guide, the kids at the "Romper Room" the vape store were having some issues and I told them to look up a urine color/hydration chart

sorry about the Vapor's Tongue Odessa, I've not gotten it, maybe someday, doubtful though..*taking a big swig of my hibiscus tea*

we started at 24mg in a few weeks I had to back down a LOT,6mg over 1/2 the time chain vaping, if out and about or with morning coffee 12mg (see sx of too much nicotine) Ed's still on 18, but he doesn't chain vape like I do.

My pee is def a 5 or 6 so I am dehydrated. I drank 2 liters of water. I am hoping this will help.

I spoke to MBV and they basically- told me:

-Try a lower nic content as nicotine is a dehydrator.
-Don't chain vape
-Drink more water
-Try switching up juices every week
-Try 100% VG juice ( I already am )

My issue with the nic content part is I smoked a pack of black n milds a day with each cigar containing 100-200mg of nicotine EACH. Vaping 3ML a day at 24/mg a ml can't be an issue?

The issue with "try a different vendor" is this issue happens across the board, not just MBV. After googling and reading, I will do the following:

Start brushing with Biotene Toothpaste (helps with dry mouth symptoms)
Start using Biotene Mouth Wash
Start drinking a lot more water
Keep vaping only 100% VG
Change up juices I vape

I will MAYBE
-Stop chain vaping
-Step down the nicotine

This sucks because I just spent a ton of money on hardware and I can't use it and enjoy it!

Same here almost ..my throat gets dry and my tonsils start to feel like the Mojave desert. Just bought some 100% VG juice to see what happens.

I found drinking a lot of water while vaping helps a ton (and drinking a lot in general through the day). Who would have thought? I guess since I never had to do this while smoking, I didn't have to while vaping. I guess I learn something new every day. Thanks everyone!
