What type of wick are you using? If your into rebuildables you may want to try rayon for wick. Many people say the vapor off it is more like a cigarette. The hits are more powerful nicotine delivery is faster more like a cigarette. Just takes some practice to get it right and the wicks and coils will last a lot longer when you do.

Often times, when I'm "in the groove" of vaping, I completely forget about cigarettes. Other times, one cigarette can ruin that groove. Some day vaping just isn't satisfying, just like OP said, but that day comes to an end, and another one follows- another chance to only vape. I feel what OP is saying, BUT, with persistence, you can go back to only vaping.
It's you, not your equipment, that decides you're actions.

If I could get a consistent vaping experience I'd be off tobacco for good. Instead, I get a good session here and there but mostly not great with periods of time where I taste nothing and want to just throw my vaping gear in the trash.

Is it possible the op is not having good vaping experiences in his return (for whatever reason) - if so, maybe keep trying? Maybe you'll hit into enough good sessions to hold you over in between poor sessions?

I've never really gotten this concept, "vaping sessions." I vape all day long every day, so how do I define a "session"? A whole day? When would it NOT be a "session"? I don't smoke anymore, so there's no interruption of a whole day's vaping, by smoke; the only interruptions are a) my hands are busy typing, b) my hands are wet from cooking or dishes, c) I'm eating, or d) I'm off somewhere else in the house doing something, like laundry, showering, etc.

I have vapes from time to time that don't really taste like much of anything. I think it's my tastebuds at fault, not the vape or the device -- a cartotank, with a functional carto, vapes pretty much the same every time. Also I find if I take too many hits, too close together, my tastebuds kinda go numb; I have to set it down for a few minutes, and then it tastes fine again.

Once I realized I could substitute vaping for cigarettes I was all over it. I'm an old bee and this isn't a game for me. It is a means to an end.that I see is becoming a problem the more kids get involved, These days kids are trying to bowl each other over with their big clouds and I really don't think it has much to do with smoking at all.

........ when I first started vaping it was easy to switch I was having fun with it, exploring flavors and such, no cravings to smoke an analog or anything. This time around its pretty miserable, the vapor doesn't feel right which is something I didnt have a hard time adjusting to in the beginning. and I dont feel satisfied.

I don't know what types of juice you are using but get a good NET, 15mg nic or higher and vape it around 0.7 ohms, harder hitting and more satisfying than a stinky.

Heh... actually I agree with you about it not being a game at all; it's a way of saving my life from cigarettes. But it's hard to define "kids" -- to me that pretty much means anyone under 35. :D But even real actual kids, those under 18, if they smoke cigarettes then they have every right to save their own lives too, and there's no more reason they should have to suffer with cold turkey cessation, or ridiculously ineffective pharmaceutical snake-oil, than any of us.

I'm not getting into the cloud-chasing argument again. Apparently some people really need that, or they feel they do anyway, which amounts to the same thing really. Whatever it takes to be happy not smoking, that's fine and dandy.

^^ this

You should give rayon a try. Once you get it down It gives a much better experience. Much Less problems, better consistant wicking, 5x longer run times without maintenance at all.

Glad you are getting your thoughts together. This forum really helps me to keep on the right track! Hang out here in your spare time. I am constantly reading on the forum. I also go to vendors websites and look at their juice and equipment and make wish lists for my next purchases. It keeps me focused and occupied. Good luck to you and if you ever need encouragement just look us up on here.

A couple of things Logan

If your juice has been sitting in bottle for a couple of months waiting for you to return to vaping, it could be quite nasty tasting now. I have a few bottles I let sit and came back to them after a couple of months and they were not right at all. Some juices don't age well. Get new juice at the very least. And clean the crap out of all your equipment! Old juice has a way of clinging to your stuff and new juice won't taste right.

When I first started vaping I need very strong flavors because after smoking my buds were near dead, as I got farther away from smoking I tended toward much lighter flavors and enjoyed the nuances. I really can't stand the strong flavors anymore, but if I started smoking again I would probably need them to wake up the buds again. Go to a vape shop and sample again to find something that satisfies taste (as well as stronger nic as others have said). Flavor preferences change all the time, go find flavors that satisfy you now, don't expect that the flavors that used to satisfy will still be your preference. Much of the time I vape now for the flavor, not just the nic.

Maybe you've lost the hobby aspect that was so appealing when you started. Explore different aspects of vaping to recapture the hobby drive. Maybe DIY juice or something, or new mods and attys as others recommended. Try some new tanks or builds. Find the fun again. Just getting away from smoking is not enough for most I think, it needs to be enjoyable... something smoking is generally not.

Whatever you decide to do... good luck with it.

WoW!!!! I didnt even think of needing stronger flavors because of the whole dead taste bud deal. And I've pretty much decided to try to wow myself again, I have a really strong base of knowledge thanks to everyone on here youtube reviews, and my obsessive personality (god bless my fiance) that i guess starting over is a hit to the ego as well and I just need to throw myself into it and play again.

True I think its a mental thing as well though the first time I started vaping it was easy the day I bought my ego kit and 3 flavors of eliquid I didnt smoke a single analog again until I totally lapsed because it was all new and i was excited like a new road youve never been on with gorgeous views long drives dont seem long, but when youve been on it 100 times it feels like forever

I have a somewhat similar story to yours and I have now been 4 years without a cigarette so it can be done! The first time I started vamping I had an old cigalike kit with a PCC and L88b batteries. I thought it was pretty good at first, in fact I made it 3 months without a cigarette. Then it went downhill. I got a new job which required me to vape outside and I quickly found that my automatic batteries activated with even a breath of wind. I started bumming cigarettes off co-workers and found myself buying my own packs shortly after. I gave up on vaping for about 6 months and then decided to try it again. I got a better 510 setup, but I still couldn't completely drop the cigs. It wasn't until I bought an ego that I got rid of the cigs all together.

There were a few factors to getting myself to quit the second time. The new shiny factor definitely helped to hold my interest, but it had to be significantly different. I also needed a more satisfying vape, meaning more vapor and longer times between refills. New flavors also helped me some. But the biggest part was that I did not want to smoke any more which is exactly what it took for every addiction I have overcome. There are multiple parts to any addiction, but the most important one to defeat is the will power. If you don't truly want to, you won't.

The advise that others have given is great. Keep spares around at ALL times, especially when away from vape shops. Try different flavors. Try different equipment. Try different nic levels.

Agreed!
When everything is new, the very first time, the novelty alone fills you with awe and that provides a psychological motivation unlike many things that follow. That fades, sometimes hard. What was once positive motivation becomes negative motivation. Such as vaping because you were so into it that you didn't care about ciggs vs not smoking and vaping instead so you don't die. The honeymoon is over and its just you and reality, minus the initial motivation, enthrallment, and wonder of these new toys. That's why some will say "buy a new device", that can sometimes bring you back some... just a tad, of the initial excitement. But that is not sustainable. What will we do with the reality?

This happened to me. I just persisted with my vaping, and within a month or so totally got off the cancer sticks. I too switched over to vaping very easily the first time. The second time it was not so easy, but you must persist. Buy yourself a new piece of gear. That's what helped me. I bought myself a new vaporizer, and that always makes me feel happy. It's a great hobby as well as being a life saver! ☺
