When his kit arrived this weekend, he put it up and told me not to touch it. It was his new toy and he wanted to be the first to play with it... and he knows I'm impatient and would've gotten it out and charged and all put together without him. lol I did force him to open it and put the battery on the charger so it would be ready to go when he was ready to play. Yesterday afternoon, he sat down with the battery the box of cartos the drip tip and the liquid and just stared at it all. He picked up one thing an put it next to the battery, then picked up the next... then he just thrust it all at me and said "here, I don't know how to do this stuff."

lol men and their toys, I swear they're like children sometimes xD

Yea I don't know maybe if you get him something really cool he'll WANT to show it off to the guys xD
My husband was like a little kid showing off a new toy

I hope he does get to that point. I'd love for him to get into it and start shopping for juice and accessories for himself.

Something that I have learned over the past several years is that black culture is very, very, *very* different from mine! lol Craig hangs out with mostly "old heads" as he calls them, 45-55 yr olds mostly. Most of the men are 6'6" 350+ HUGE and just loooooooove to look for a reason to raz others. I'm pretty sure he will remain a social smoker in that scene. I'm ok with that. I do see him starting to vape at work before too long, different crowd, so I would be very happy with him just going through a pack of cigs a week rather than in a day. And like everyone said, who knows, he may come to not like the taste anymore and stop completely and just not smoke period when out with the boys. Either way, I will be happy as long as he keeps up with vaping at home.

And how much better does this "good book" get. Keep in mind I'm an old toot but when I was younger was heavily involved in all sorts of sports- actually came close to being on the Mens Olympic Swim Team- was offered scholarships, etc. I found I wanted SOOO bad to get back into sports but my lungs cared not to participate
After a few months vaping I began getting back into sports that I once loved- its' prolly, to me, one of the best aspects of quitting smoking. Had to move 100+ wheel barrels uphill about 100' at the cottage- took me 6 hrs and told my wife if I was still smoking it would've been a 2 day job. Swimming- when smoking out of breath after 25 yards...can now swim a continuous 5 miles in the Bay. Most of my converts seem also to get motivated in regards to a new healthier lifestyle, another benefit of vaping.

That's awesome!!! He said he used to be very physically active, rode a bike everyday after work, shot ball several times a week, shot pool (ok, not exactly physical but at least he was doing something lol). He went through a rough divorce and fell into a bit of a depression and started smoking again. He was starting to climb out of it when our son was born early which threw his game plan off for work and other things... so it knocked him back down again. I'm so excited for him that he's starting to *want* to do things again. I'm proud of him for this step that he has taken and can already see that he is going to succeed because there are things he misses and can see doing them again in his future. You guys ROCK!

You'd be surprised at how many macho guyz are terrified of the illnesses associated with smoking. My wife is my dream gal and after 35 yrs of bliss I'm still head over heels for her. We are soul mates and best friends and don't have any secrets, good or bad, BUT the one thing I never ever told her was how terrified I was of dying and/ or becoming incapacitated from a smoking associated illness. Worst part was laying in bed and trying to hide my wheezing- she heard and knew about it though never mentioned it.

Oh, not too sure that's a black culture thing by this example.... That may be a 'guy thing' :), you just described me and my best buds & I'm white. When we're together, any outsider would think its a roast, funny & sometimes nasty half truth insults flying around. In truth, we have the highest respect, regard, & love for each other, we all know and have shown countless times we have each others back. We're pretty much family. A guy thing.

that's Craig and his boys to the T. He's known 80% of his friends since he was a middle schooler... LIFE-long friends. They would give or do anything, live or die, for one another.

I'm jealous of his friendships... I moved a lot as a kid, so I don't have any true deep rooted friends like he does (not jealous of the time he spends, but b/c I don't have anyone in my life like that, ykwim).

All that being said, the dozens is a brutal game he probably isn't ready to play with his e-cig yet!! hahahahaa

I think a mini with a PPC is a great starter for anyone just getting into vaping. Especially someone that is afraid "the guys" are going to give him .....

I prefer to use clearomizers but there are some thin-line ones that work well with a 501 battery. I started with a 901 with standard cartomiser and was very happy with it, and I'm pretty hard on things (dropping, etc...)

That said, an ego battery (900maH), clearomizer, and charger is the cheapest way to go, lots of nice links in this thread.

I know I'm a bit late for you but RIGHT HERE is an inexpensive kit for a 501 +PCC from Liberty Flights

can relate, may appear brutal, but it's just fun. Don't be surprised once he personally experiences the health benefits that he brings it on. Vapoor Eyes is absolutely right, just cause they're big macho guys with a swagger doesn't mean they're not scared ....less of the consequences of smoking, we all know, as do they, someone whose life had been cut short or severely affected by our habit. Who knows, u may have a whole vaping group of his friends to contend with in the future :)

So true. Many of my converts were the wives of smoking couples. The wives generally took to it like a duck to water while the husbands, once they saw it was a viable solution, began vaping afterwards. Amongst those couples it turns out the guyz cannot stop talking about vaping. They enjoy the tinkering, modifying and making their own juice- they absolutely love the hands on and challenging aspect of it all.

Wow Vapoor...did you hit that one on the head !!!
Had the 'heart to heart' with my gal (34 years) last weekend....
After three months Vaping- told her 'everything' !
The rotten circulation in my legs and feet...would just lay in bed at night, while my toes and feet stung like bees.
The wheezing in my lungs, heaviness in my arms and legs, racing heart after a cig.
It wasn't pretty... I was not doing well.
All she knew was that she loved me...and that I stank, was burning money and couldn't participate in her love- hiking.

That has all done a 180 now.
I can breath deeply. I sleep soundly.
The heaviness and pain are Gone.
The ticker is not racing- I don't stink.
and I can hike with her again !

Yes...It is Fantastic !!!
All that crap is out of my body...
And my conscience is clean too.
Vaping saved me.

Stories such as your are the true Gems of ECF and kinda makes me teary eyed cuz your story is so from the heart and almost identical to mine...I am not a religious person but Craig, yourself, myself and many others have SO MUCH to be grateful for and are blessed knowing someone is there for us EVERY step of the way. Thank you for such a touching and heartfelt story.

Tracie.... sorry for the OT but gotta ask... being one myself, I'm reading INTP in your OP! Do you know your MB personality type?

Is obnoxious and overbearing a personality type?? lol I think I scored like marginal this and slight that... I'm pretty much straight down the middle. I want to say I scored extrovert, intuitive, judging and don't remember the other. lol

Craig suffers from severe reflux and anxiety. He wakes up in the middle of the night clutching his chest on a regular basis. Dr's have told him a bajillion times to quit smoking, even prescribed patches for him, but he "wans't ready." I can't wait until his body starts to feel the positive effects of less toxins. I can only imagine the improvement in his life when he can sleep through the night and breathe with ease while working. Hopefully he'll be able to get into my favorite passion again, because that is seriously lacking.

I KNOW that Craig is going to feel so much better in a few weeks.
Just keep him well hydrated (one glass of water...between the beers) and the PG/VG will help to clear the lungs.

The nic is a funny thing- it's a stimiulant to the brain, but also a relaxant too.
As smokers, we must have our nicotene
The thing we are doing with vaping is that we are training our brain that we will not deprive it of the nic that it needs...
if it will allow us to give it the nic through vaping instead of smoking.
That is why it is important to vape frequently...before the brain needs it.
Vape first thing in the morning, with the 'first cup o joe or tea', in the car...before and whenever he smoked before.
Vape...then if you get the urge for a cig...vape again. Then if you must have a cig- have one, and don't stress about it.
The trick, in my opinion- is to vape before you think you need it.
Then the brain will have nothing to 'complain' about...and will accept the nic delivery via vaping easier.

I am sure you know that water- and lots of it, will flush those toxins out and without the toxins...will make the cravings go away.
