Ill just say this, i dont feel the sense of entitlement that some people feel about vaping just beause its not illegal. At a bar, Im gonna vape for sure. In an enclosed place with mixed company, no. Its rude unless I get the feeling that it would be ok. Its perfectly legal to fart anywhere you want but you respect the fact that other people dont want to smell it.

Besides that, post 9-11, youre talking about pulling out a metal device on a plane with lights blinking on it that nobody is likely to be able to identify that has smoke escaping from it. Why would you even ask for trouble?

Its seems fundamentally unamerican to ban something like stelth vaping when it causes no distraction/safety risk/ect. I don't know for sure if there is some kind of hazard to stealth vaping on a plane, but I doubt it... see http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarettes-public/458879-college-classroom-3.html for my hypothetical thread that seems to upset a few teachers.

Interesting that you bring up the safety risk issue. Arizona State University recently enacted a no smoking anywhere on campus rule (across all campuses). As part of the new ruling, they outlawed vaping inside any campus buildings. The reason they gave was not the vapor being released into the air part - they cited instead the fact that all e-cigs have a battery and vaporize liquid on a hot coil, and as such could pose a potential fire or explosion hazard if there was an instance of equipment failure.

But back to the vaping on planes questions.

Here's an article that states it's not allowed:

You Can't Smoke E-Cigarettes In Planes - Business Insider

"Here's the bottom line: No, you can't smoke e-cigarettes in airplanes. At least not in planes operated by large American carriers.

JetBlue says that although electronic cigarettes "may be non-hazardous, JetBlue does NOT allow the USE of them on any of our flights," because the vapor they produce is a "nuisance."

United bans all "simulated smoking materials" are banned, including e-cigs.

Here's American's response: "American Airlines does not allow electronic cigarettes to be used onboard."

Delta's answer was similar: "Delta does not permit the use of electronic cigarettes on board any Delta or Delta Connection aircraft."

In an April 2010 issue of its "Spirit" magazine, Southwest Airlines classified "electronic cigarettes and smoking devices" as "Never Permitted" (via the Global Advisors Smokefree Policy)."

Have we considered the possibility yet that the OP is an ANTZ looking for ammunition to show that vapers don't care about rules/laws and will do anything to break them - and what methods they would use to avoid detection? It's hard to believe that anybody with any common sense would seek to be so flagrantly subversive about their vaping. In the workplace after the boss has explicitly prohibited it? On an airplane? In a helicopter? Wanting to build a mech mod that will take 4-5 stacked 18650s? I'm not buyin' it - I think there's more to this than meets the eye.

I would not vape on a plane. The consequences of being caught are too high for me, personally. I definitely wouldn't want something I did to be used as ammunition against vapers either. I use snus for long car trips because I don't vape in front of my kids (I don't think it's dangerous, I just don't want to model smoking behavior to them). You might try out some Swedish snus. It took me about a week to get used to the taste (it's a little salty the first few times), but it's got more nicotine than the gum, so I find it very satisfying. I have a Speedway convenience store that keeps General in stock and I get about 1 can of General mint every couple of months. I think that's 20 portions.

I had a Crown-7 cartomizer but didn't really take to it and kept smoking. But I'd use while flying, and in my bedroom while staying in non-smoking households. Those things don't put out much vapor, and with the automatic battery, it was great for stealth. And I'd take three drags on the airplane in the lavatory.

I'm thinking about getting a disposable for a long flight I have planned. I was going to research those inhalers as well, but sounds like those would be violating airplane policy as quoted above.

Anybody try those things?

Same could be said for over half the posts in this public forum. But seriously, what would they do with the information?
Follow us into the bathroom? ANTZ, public officials, agencies, etc. etc. etc. could be asking questions in here and we
have no way of knowing, which is why I'm pretty selective as to what I answer. That being said it IS VERY RUDE to smoke
or vape in front of a lot of people, or in enclosed places, I mean, come on.... have some class. As to what I do in a bathroom,
that's my choice. And it hurts no one.

Nothing specific - just gathering intel, maybe to have a few specific quotes to generate negative publicity and help facilitate even more restrictions than we already have. I'm not donning my tinfoil hat and inferring that black helicopters are going to be circling overhead - it just seems odd (or odder than usual) to me.

I smoked outside and never around my kids or in a car with them but they knew about it, them inside and me smoking outside they can see.

I now vape in my house out of the weather be it hot or cold and in the car, I have done the research and know what I am doing, I was smoked around when I was a kid and if someone picks up smoking/vaping it is gonna happen or not at least now I can make sure they don't use analogs.

Yeah I hear ya. I opened myself up a little for that one. But they're going to do whatever they can to
restrict or prohibit vaping and the use of e-cigs no matter what anyway. It's a bandwagon of sorts.

Don't vape on the plane! You will be yellow listed at best, and be subjected to questioning before each flight and possibly restricted from flying. A new shiny pair of bracelets would be your worst scenario.

Few years ago flew and the guy behind me was chewing tobacco. He got caught and was informed the police
would be waiting for him at the gate. He told his girlfriend/wife - "Well banned from another airline, no biggie'.

Why? Why is it very rude to vape in front of a lot of people? I'm not trying to antagonize here, it's an honest question. I can't wrap my head around why it might be rude to vape in front of a lot of people.

Vaping in front of a lot of people, non smokers, non vapers, leaving them in a cloud of vapor = just rude. Vaping in an enclosed place - not everyone feels comfortable with plumes of vapor clouds floating everywhere. Rude to burp, swear, fart, and a lot of other things in front of people. I don't believe for one moment I, as a vaporer, should have to go to the designated smoking section and be treated like a second class citizen to vape. I do however feel there are ways you can do it so no one even realizes you're doing it. I've vaped in restaurants, among friends at my table, but did it so descretally (I can't spell tonite to save myself) that even the person next to
me didn't know what I was doing. That is far different from sitting there with an attitude blowing plumes of clouds everywhere, yanno?

I have used nicotine inhalers on flights years ago. No issues using them openly on planes. The ones I had didn't emit anything. Don't know if the new ones do or not. It was just a white plastic tube that looked like a feminine device applicator and had a nicotine cartridge in it.
