Started smoking at 8 years old and not once was I ever carded. Never got carded for alcohol until I was 23.
Not vape related but...i have an 11 yr old daughter. She jokes with me about my age and has since she was younger. Says im old enough to be her grandpa. Anyway, a couple years ago i took her to KFC for lunch. Apparently the cashier thought she was my granddaughter and gave me the senior discount on my meal. I was 50 then.

We had a smoking area in high school as well. You were supposed to have a note from parents allowing it but that was never enforced
Surprised at all the smoking areas. Went to Catholic school. No smoking. We all smoked in the bathroom and many of us had indefinite detention.

Smoking wasn't allowed in our public schools either. Smoked in school from 4th grade up, didn't get caught until the final quarter of my senior year.

Howdy! I am 68 I started smoking when i got to Vietnam in 1969. I started vaping in 2012 and never looked back! I thank my son every time I see him. He was going to collage and worked at vape shop. He got me some great juice and great mods. Best thing that ever happened to me for many reasons.
A Vietnam veteran, I would like to thank you for your service.

Wow - you smoked at a very young age like me. When you read the below you will think I was a nightmare kid but I wasn't --I was a straight A student and very respectful most of the time but I never tolerated anyone bullying me just because I was a kid.

The witchy nun that was the principal hated me because I came from public school. One day she caught me outside of school grounds smoking. I had been on my way to school and always smoked the whole way. Got to school and she called me into her office and smacked me hard across the mouth. I'll never forget that. Reflectively I pushed her. She smacked me again, threw me down in the chair and said she was calling my parents. I did not shed one tear and very calmly I told her there was no need for her to phone them - I'd call them and when they found out she smacked me twice she'd be in big trouble. She hung up the phone and instead punished me with indefinite detention which lasted nearly the whole school year.

I'm impressed. I lasted a month in '09 on RN4072s (PG problem got me, but I don't know that I would've stuck with it long enough for new stuff to be invented even without a PG problem).

Oh, didn't totally quit until 2012 when I got my first RDA until then I was a 50/50 vaper.

I just make the cut on this one.
Never could understand smokers who throw out the unfinished pack.
3 months after I had my last cigarette I found a pack with one left down behind the seat on the tractor .
Yeah I smoked it.
That was a year and a half ago.
40 years was enough for me.
Does anyone remember smoking on the underground (subway ) that took a strong constitution specially in rush hour .

I'm amazed Catholic school backed down. It's pretty much a given around here you're going to get hit at Catholic school (but also many public schools too).

I did about the same thing then, but nowhere near 50/50. Kept the RN4072s for not having to go outside to smoke at my sister's in the winter.
Kept an eye on things and in 2012 I decided it had changed enough to give it a try again.

Me, I'm 55 and started Vaping at 52. I've fallen deep down into the Rabbit Hole. I have a rather large collection of Mech's that allot are Pinoy Mech's and also Atty's. I spin my own fused Claptons, love the new hobby. I started smoking at around 14-15 and haven't had a Stinkie since I started Vaping. Yeah I see mostly younger age around 20's and 30's Vape but I've been seeing a few of us older farts vaping. Granted not many but it seems that it is slowly increasing which is good to see.

Ugh, in third grade my son was in Catholic school and had a (former) nun as his teacher. She was HATEFUL. Man, every time we "met" *I* wanted to punch her out. She hated my kid and drove him to suicidal planning (the school counselor called and told me my kid wanted to die, and that he would "stab himself with a pocket knife (he had one, in his bedroom) and then the counselor told me I "needed to be a tougher parent." His counselor (and I) had been trying to get him moved from that classroom all year. I was like, "Dood, you are telling me I should punish my kid for being driven to suicide by that witch? Did JESUS tell you to cut to that chase?"

Poor thing wound up in day treatment for two weeks, although the psychiatrist there was great and wrote the letter. It was good , because that ex NUN, myself, the kid or all three WOULD have wound up dead. I told the principal that they shouldn't allow that women around kids, maybe convicts would be better. She was a bit "handsy" too, only I told her if she laid a hand on ANY kid in her class, I would report her for child abuse.

Things can get pretty testy in Catholic schools, but really today? I mean, EVERYONE knows it's illegal right?

I'm young enough to really sort of wonder HOW and WHY parents ever thought that ANY adult other than the parent (if it's their way) should hit a kid. Teachers quite often wind up not liking kids so much. It just seems-- IDK, odd.

Hello all.. I'm not yet over 55 but I'm getting there.

I'm 49 and started vaping at 45.. I no longer vape (I used it to quit smoking and then quit vaping) but my husband does, he will be 57 in july, but isn't on the forum..

There are plenty of older people who vape, just less likely to do so loitering around business or run around making vaping memes.. so likely less noticeable

I started vaping December 2, 2017 only 5 days before my 60 th birthday. Most people I see vaping appear to be somewhere in age between 25 and 40. I'm about the oldest person I see vaping out on the street. I see older people sucking on ecigs like one purchases at convenience stores. But I actually vape. I own several smok v8 sticks and and Innokin MVP4 box mod. I have totally embraced the hobby. I have 20+ flavors of juice, nic levels 0 and 3. I'm saving money so I can get a more sofisticated mod with replaceable batteries. woo hoo This is my question--tell us about your self or your "old" friends who are vapers. BTW please tell the FDA and all those European agencies that I love sweet, candy and dessert flavors. Thank you.
PS my last cigarette was December 12. I had to use up my last pack.
I am not 60 but getting closer every day. I have embreced the hobby aspect as well. Build coils mix juice etc. Looking for new lodgings so I can have a hobby room to work in.
