Thank you Izan.

I haven't been taking the chart as gospel. The juice I'm using now I have it at 10.5 w.

I have been trying to learn ohms law but will have questions along the way. If the answer I'm looking for is in ohms law (im sure it is) it hasn't presented itself to me yet or I didn't comprehend it right when I came across it.

To be honest, I don't know who or how the people who make these charts came up with the recommendations. There are several varieties of charts available. Below is the one that I use and post as a general guideline for new vapors. It's easier to understand than an Ohm's Law formula. It seems to work for me and many others. I got it from ecigadvanced. The author wrote an article to explain his conclusions here: Guide to Safe Vaping - E-Cigarette Safety | Ecig Advanced Community Blog

for as long as this chart has been floating around, i am inclined to think it's more for the days when there wasnt much diversity in devices and came about in the clearo and carto ruled era. just based on the fact it doesnt go lower then 1.4 ohms and says nichrome wire.

I could be wrong. but i am well into the red on several of my RBA's

Pretty sure this was devised solely for single coil cartomizers.

Tvan,

It is the gauge of the wire, the temp your juice starts to burn, the temperature your wicks and coils start to plug/coat up at etc...

Some atomizers come with recommended voltage charts like Kanger tanks. But even with the Kanger I usually run above their recommended settings. I have just spent the last two days running at their highest recommended value and found not only did those setting make the juice taste really bad but it actually made me a little sick to my stomach. After reading this thread a couple of times I decided to go about two watts higher than the Kanger recommend settings and all is good once again.

My personal opinion is do what you have to do to make the vape and the taste right for you. The price you might have to pay will be the need to replace your atomizer coils and wicks a little more often. Most other excesses will be taken care of by the smart battery and/or the mod safety circuits.

I tend to get a little too technical with my toys and all it ever seems to accomplish is take all the fun and pleasure out of vaping so I try hard not to let my OCD take control of my vaping experience.

One caveat: If you are using a completely dumb battery in a completely dumb mechanical mod I would at least stick to the middle zone of one of these chart recommendations. I have grown a little fond of ten digits on my hands besides they are part of my poor man's calculator.

PS - you don't need to learn Ohm's law this will calculate it for you and you won't even have to use your fingers:

I have to agree with you there Baditude, I have to run dual coil cartos and genesis devices at 10 watts or more to get a decent vape but the chart works ok with single coil clearo's. I look at the chart as a good starting point.
