Hello,

Wondering why nobody has made a vaporizer which you can plug into your wall and vape straight away

I am an electrical engineer and a D.I.Y enthusiast . I was surprised by availability of any off the wall vaping devices. Almost all of them rely on battery power except the pass through device like this one
Amazon.com: Variable Voltage USB Pass through: Toys & Games
. I know with sub-ohm vaping the limits are now reaching almost 200 watts and the mods /MVP are getting bigger and bigger .

Most of the cloud chasers do it at home or work desk and it would be easy to use a device which uses the wall plug to convert AC to DC .

In my opinion it would be safer also as no risky batteries to worry about . Just hook up the RDA with some kind of base device which can accept DC input from a power source and unlimited vaping on the cheap without worrying about batteries

If somebody wants to venture into doing this I can help them out in technical and necessary guild lines . Unfortunately due to my current work pressure I cannot spend enough time to find suppliers to build one

It will be easy to use 12 V/20 amp or 19 V /10 amp with for 200 watt - Most of the industrial power supplies ( Xbox uses one with 300 Watt 19 V) or normal laptop supplies are 60 -90 watt @ 19 V .

alternatively there are regulated DC power supplies which can do continuous DC amps - The added advantage being they dont work when shorted out ! so very safe

Amazon.com: 12v 30a Dc Universal Regulated Switching Power Supply 360w for CCTV, Radio, Computer Project: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: Audiotek - AT-PS36M Output 30A-36A Amp Mobile 13.8 Volt DC Heavy Duty Power Supply Good For Home/Office/Installer/Party/Entertainment/Radios/Scanners/HAM Radios/Auto Sound Systems: Electronics

and it would be easy to hook them using the industry standard plugs normally used for car battery charging

Amazon.com: NOCO Genius GC004 10' Extension Cable: Automotive

The only missing piece is the RDA / RBA adapter /EGO base to connect to . I am sure one of the mechanical mod makers can fashion out a nice system

happy vaping

Anil

I use dc power adapters myself.

Provari used to make a bypass adapter shaped like a battery that was screwed onto their mod.

Innokin has a device called the DRV which plugs into the cigarette ligher on vehicles.

then there are the cheap low power usb passthroughs (no battery) that are suitable for small tanks like the evods and miniprotanks and such.

I to am an EE but haven't been practicing in the field for a few years. Transitioned into the software world  .... The market seems to scream for portability...... I am waiting for improvements in voltaic cells to be able to let the sun do some of the work in helping with keeping the charge up on batteries. Notice I said "help" in charging.

Another thing that could possibly change in the future would be to quit using primitive coils for heating and use something that requires much less power, Maybe the use of magnetism or chemical gases.

I like the idea of a plug in "vape station" myself. When I'm at home why should I have to mess with something battery powered? Batteries work for when I'm on the go, but it's just stupid for when I'm around the house. Innokin asked for suggestions on a new Vape device in a thread a couple weeks ago, and I suggested a plug in vape station. I was ignored completely. I guess society today expects nothing less than cordless stuff.

I guess most people want portability, and a battery pack is not more expensive than a PSU. I must admit I've been looking around for a good PSU to hook up to a regulated board just for kicks, but so far I haven't found anything with a price I like, that ships to Norway.

The annual battery cost is more than just having a power adapter that you don't have to keep replacing all the time; plus your voltage source does not keep depleting continuously when you are plugged into the wall.

probably because their DRV didn't sell very well.

I have a battery powered unit for when I'm driving and the cord would be annoying. Plus, I've never owned anything but tanks with 510 threads. Does that even produce decent power? I'm talking about something that will run subohm tanks and rda's, has temp control, and I can plug it into a standard wall plug without using a 12 volt adapter. Something I can put ony desk or on my workbench when I don't have the time or the want to keep an eye on battery level.

BOOM there it is! Thanks Bad.

Now I may be wrong but I suspect it is m21x1 threaded in which case it would fit on m21x1 mods but unfortunately, nobody's going to buy one by itself without knowing if it would fit on their existing mod, and we still don't see mod thread adapters being sold.

But I no longer see it on provapes website so I suspect they don't sell.
It's a great setup, but people who can afford a provari won't need to save on batteries.
OTOH, getting away from the safety concerns of lithium batteries is a big plus

This is one that I made out of a cheap tobacco pipe. I use a 5v 2 amp AC to DC adapter that came from an old router that died. It's my primary "at home" device.

I'm currently in the planning stage for a new one, using a 5v 4 amp AC adapter, that will stand upright. The pipe needs to lay down because the input power jack is on the bottom of the bowl.

why go thru all the trouble creating something that already exists... TADA!!!

an old computer power supply... 3,5,12V supply and in most cases available in 500W ratings
and if you are feeling adventerous, wire in a 3 pole switch to use all 3 voltages available
stealth, tootle, and Dragon Breath :)

For those thinking of doing it on cheap they can use a laptop power supply from old laptop or refurbished unit will do of course they cannot be connected by yihi or dna as these expect a much lower voltage. maybe somebody will come with an adapter . imagine using your provari or DNA40 directly using your laptop supply in your hotel room instead of waiting for batteries to charge or the passthrough device to get enough juice to start kicking again at 50 watt .

maybe I will look into an old laptop to see how they charge those 18650 inside laptop batteries and can use that intermediate board to supply the mod directly.
