From what I gather, the two places to buy this VF clone from (atm) are 3fvape and Focalecig. The only difference is that 3fvape has the usb charge port versions and more color selection and the regular non usb versions, where Focalecig just has the non usb version in silver or black? I will just mark FT as probably B stock, and avoid them. Does this sum it up for now? Or are there any other differences between focal and 3f?

It is sooooo funny that you are asking me about the Waidea clone, because I literally came in here to break Tpat's heart a little ..

Well, .... the Waidea clone IS NOT 1:1 unfortunately. My mind is blown by some of the choices they have made, which I had hoped were just for the sake of production sample to test their chip, but no.

Sigh .. So my good friend Alice from Limwell and Yoyo from Comcig both sent pictures to me this evening of a "1:1" VF clone  Its the Waidea clone, and those unfortunately large protruding battery caps, and gold fire button have officially ruled this out as a 1:1. I did get a peak at the chip's display screen and it looks just like the Evolv chip. I immediately contacted Summer at Waidea who said "let me speak to my boss" :glare:

Tragedy ... the main body and top plate, including the 510 are like the current VF, but those battery caps and fire switch? I am too tired to post the pics that I was sent tonight of the Waidea clone with the packaging, but I will post them tomorrow to confirm the heartbreak

A shame... I wish Kangxin would update their VF design... The copper threading is too delicate in conjunction to the stainless steel threads of most atomizers, I'd have to be super careful to make sure it doesn't get damaged. Also, from what I see in the pictures, the USB charging port is really high up, the authentic has the usb charger near the bottom. I honestly wish they'd just forget about the USB charger altogether though, most people use external chargers, especially for dual 18650 mods.

A spring loaded pin vs an adjustable screw isn't that big of an issue since I don't change mods much, but it's still a nice touch, preferably gold plated as to combat corrosion.

Waidea is definitely crossed off if they're going with the weird protruding battery caps though.

Well, it's been 24 hours since I placed my order with 3FVape and it's still only showing "Payment accepted". It's only 3PM Thursday afternoon in Shenzhen, so maybe it'll get updated in the next few hours before they knock off for the day. But looking at the page, they don't really say the upgraded Kangxin flasks are in stock like they do with the Hana DNA40 clone.

EDIT: Just got this email from 3FVape:

Hello John,

For your order, it should leave our warehouse on two working days.

I'm not surprised at all! Look forward to the pics to see if it is a full stainless steel construction or not & see the contrast on the buttons. Like I said the concept is intriguing & sort of unique. Seems like it would be easy to replace the battery caps w/ flat slotted ones! The buttons are another story but they are easily changed in production & maybe this is a suggestion prototype of a different. higher end option version.

When I said the other night the only winning move is not to play I had already decided to pull the trigger on the 3FVape Kangxin w/ usb. What you are describing only confirms that was the right decision & if I like it enough I can always order one later after they actually do a 1:1 in the product progression cycle.

It may be that Waidea doesn't want to do a true 1:1 now because their name is too widely attached to it now for protection from prosecution & by introducing differences, they are protecting themselves.

The manufacturer of a true 1:1 Vapor flask clone will ultimately be well hidden because the original patent holder will go after them.

I d'ont like what I see in the picture... too little space, hot glue, etc. Not a clean work.
I want to buy one, but i want to know if i can replace the copper 510 connector with a FatDaddy Low Profile one?
I do not figure after pictures, the copper 510 connector is glued or not?

Pretty sure it's threaded to the ~22mm base on top and then hit with hot glue. Should be room for a lower profile floating 510. Might even be able to get a Fat Daddy V4 full sized in there.

Just got this email from 3FVape:

Dear Customer,

After meeting with Vapor Flask DNA 40's supplier, they have announce something to change:

They will random to choose Brass or Red bronze for their products in future, it will effect three parts:
1. Battery Cover
2. 510 Connection
3. Central Pin

It will effect two range products, one is Vapor Flask DNA 40 with USB and another one is Vapor Flask DNA 40 without USB.

They guarantee it will not affect Vapor Flask DNA 40 's performance.

During this change, we will ship the Vapor Flask DNA 40 randomly, if you really want the special one - Brass or Red bronze, PLEASE LET US KNOW in 24 hours.

We will try our best to find the one you want.

thanks for your understanding & we are sorry about this change.

I'm assuming "Red bronze" is the copper looking one they've been shipping to date, and what shows in the photos. Sent a response saying I'd take the brass just to be different, but that I'd really prefer it being stainless for durability.

Contacted Limewell myself and I swear Bella was really Summer using a different name. Spent an hour trying to figure out how she kept telling me she was sending me 4 pictures and I kept getting the same 2 pics of the front cradled in a hand and the top of the unit with an atty on it so I can't see the 510. I explained that the battery caps should be flush with the bottom of the unit & slotted and the Fire button should be brushed Stainless Steel & the look of it should match the up & down buttons. I asked her if the 510 was Single Slotted Stainless Steel with a Self Adjusting Center Pin & she kept answering it is adjustable (have zero confidence it is stainless). After every unanswered question the next response was how many you order?

Look forward to seeing if you actually managed to get a pic of the actual 510. That is definitely brushed aluminum on the body & top cap in the two pics I got -- not Stainless Steel as Summer told you.

Happy I pulled the trigger on the Kangxin!

You are obviously not worried about a shipping delay, are you?

I'm pretty sure what they call "red bronze" is the copper-colored caps and 510 that's on all the pictures of the Kangxin units.

Could be was a lot of demand and Kangxin couldn't source enough parts or materials in their choice to keep up from a single supplier.

That, or the early production was with what they had on hand (copper), with the plan to upgrade to a more "authentic looking" brass when they could, and that there's still some of that old copper product already shipped to vendors that'll get mixed in with the new brass units on a random basis until the copper units are all gone.

FYI, the 510 and battery caps are copper and nickel plated Brass, not real copper. :) Don't cross Waidea completely off the list just yet. I spoke a little more to Summer last night, and I will update later. Crazy day, I have a headache :p Not saying all is good with Waidea, just saying there is a slight possibility for some things being corrected and addressed. :)

Oh well you were in the mood for punishment if you contacted Limwell for info ... they don't have any. :glare: They have never even seen the device, all they have are the pics that Summer sent them hun.

To answer your question, yes the 510 connection is the same single slotted 510 as the authentic. I will post the pics later with a clear shot of the display screen too. :)

While I am sure it will work/turn on, I am fairly positive that the caps will not screw in all the way and will protrude a fair amount. So you are better off with flat tops hun.

Thanks. I just started using one of my last pair of un-opened flattops, but still have a pair of button-tops unopened and ready. No biggie though, will just have to order another pair of flattops when I pull the trigger on this.

I feel you on the headache hun, been sick in bed for the last few days with the flu. Take an advil or two.

Nickel plated brass is better than pure copper, makes sense since copper is quite an expensive raw material. I wish Kangxin just used stainless steel! It's cheaper than brass or copper and it's more durable for threading. I would've bought 3 of them and moved on by now if they just stuck with the original design of the VF. Thank you for relaying our concerns to the Chinese manufacturers, you're a big help. Keep us posted!
