Look pretty damn close to me. Thought I would see a much more pronounced preheat on the Evolv DNA40 but I don't see it in those traces.

I found with my old eyes that changing the zoom on my browser helps me see things at certain times. When that fails, I save a copy of pic to my hard drive & open with photo software & really zoom in on it. Sucks getting old. (I probably should have done screen snaps with video in larger viewing mode for better resolution - sorry not doing it again).

Got some reading glasses myself recently - once you get to 42/43 the eyesight just starts to go and it sucks!

The VF3/2.1 is in the hands of Singapore post now, dying to get my hands on it knowing that they're using the good chip.
My only hope is that they didn't clone the Evolv 40 too closely as my genuine chip is sucky at the best of times, when it works properly it's awesome but there's so many variables involved that it fails to perform properly on a regular basis.

I really thought I had it sussed for a couple of weeks but it's misbehaving quite badly right at the moment. It makes me feel like I'm doing this all for the first time again - and I've been rebuilding since the beginning of rebuildables.

I guess that explains why it seems to work as well as the original. I had ran across that video but thought it was using the cloned board so I didn't pay much attention to it. duh

Cloned board might explain it, I'm not seeing that preheat spike (trough) Busario saw,

We hope it is using the good chip. 3FVape Gina said they were. The other one from 3FVape said they were different. Summer from Waidea said they developed their own when they manufactured it & they sell to Sunlay. 3FVape said Sunlay manufactured it not Waidea. Focal Says Waidea Manufactured it & sold it through Sunlay.

You could go nuts just thinking about it. I personally believe these are all shell companies set up to hide the true identity of the real manufactures from prosecution & believe all the flasks are carrying the same chips & the new flask is just an incremental upgrade but who knows?

Fact is we wont know till someone gets one in their hands and does the same scope trace or takes them both apart & compares the boards,

We had one guy a few pages back who had one of the new ones & when asked about delays & operation he tells us all about what he heard about the Kangxin I have in my hand & nothing about the Waidea/Sunlay version he has in his hands.

I ordered one myself from Focal this time. Hope it works well for both of our sakes.

It's a win either way for me - if it's a good chip then it's staying in there and if it's a dud then it's being replaced by a genuine.
I'd prefer if it's KX40 because it sounds less temperamental than the Evolv and I hate soldering - although I'm capable of it.

What took so long? You won't be disappointed. It's a great device and you got a great deal.
Thanks, I'm sure I will like it. These units have enough positive responses by now. With my luck, though, I figure that now that I have ordered one, the newer SS 510 connection one will probably perform better after people start getting them and trying them out. That or the 50 watt version will be released soon.

Reviews are coming in on the Sunlay/ Waidea Flask. Looks like we have a report of a dead flask and connectivity issues.

VF 40 Style Temperature Control VW Variable Wattage Mod Version 3 - Black, 1~40W, 2 x 18650, Micro USB Charger - 3FVape

It is the dates of those reviews that bothers me.

The guy with connectivity issues was 3/8/15 & the guy with the dead one had it for a week & it died before 3/12/15 when he posted his review.

3F posted the product Pics & Descriptions on their website around 3/3/15 & posted wrong pics of the silver flask because they were given wrong pics of a product they did not yet have in stock. They essentially did a presale of a product that was promised for delivery after CNY was over & things returned to normal,

3FVape did not fix the Pics of the products on their website until 3/12 as soon as they actually received the stock from the vendor & realized they were given the wrong product pics by Waidea/Sunlay. I have difficulty understanding how these guys could have ordered them & received them from 3FVape & left reviews before 3FVape actually had the product themselves unless they were drop shipped directly from the vendor prior to 3Fs Receipt of their initial delivery.

Maybe they had the black ones earlier but I know I hadn't yet received my Kangxin that shipped on 2/7 until 3/5. Timing on those reviews seems suspicious. They must have had problems with prototypes, not production units they purchased from 3FVape.

Good catch. I didn't even think to look at the date. I checked yesterday and the connectivity review wasn't there.(Tin foil hat on) May be foul play from competition.

Cobalt327, do you recall seeing that guy's review when you made your post on 3F?

This confirms my real life experiences in that the KX40D seems to maintain temp w/o hitting protection.

My KX40D is always hitting protection on my Subtank w/ VS OCC NI200 Coils. Same happened w/ a Taifun GT tank & single coil I set up initially. Of course I'm more Mouth to Lung than not. Haven't had a lot of time to screw around with setting up an RDA though so that may also be the difference.

In the wet coil Trace on KX40D Temperature Protection kicks in 4.5 seconds after activation.

Is hitting temp protection a bad thing? I keep my rdna at 40 watts at all times. I want to hit my set temp as soon as possible, thus almost always hitting temp protection, the exception being some RDA of course.

With all the connection issues that can come up with temperature control, I think the non-spring loaded adjustable 510 is the best option. It would be better in stainless and with reverse threading, but the what I have and what you ordered works plenty well. Personally, I stay under 20 Watts for the most part, so I'm already seriously overpowered.

Not a problem at all if you're happy with it. However, I find the closer you set the power level to the actual power you use, the smoother the vape. I can feel the throttling when temp protection has to reduce power drastically.

Huh. I haven't really noticed it I guess.

Actually, no I don't remember it being there (the connectivity problem post that is). IIRC it looked like it does now- but I could be mistaken.
