Mine does that when I connect an atty & I think it has to go with the ground loop. I notice when I leave the flask idle to let it sleep & wake it back up it usually gets resistance right then.

This will probably go away if you put a proper ring terminal ground at the 510.

Such a lame implementation.

So earlier today I was doing some computer work while USB charging my Black Waidea & I absentmindedly grabbed it, pressed the fire button to take a vape & hear my atty popping away immediately after I pressed the fire button and the vape warmed up immediately into a very satisfying vape. Hit it again & I realize that even though it was set for 20w with my subtank, it was hitting 30w immediately after pressing the fire button, then dropping to 20w for a second or two before hitting temp protection and dropping further. It was like it got confused and suddenly the pre-heat function I've always heard about with legitimate DNA40s was actually operating on the Waidea.

It vaped that way for about 20 minutes and I was really getting into it until I left it idle for too long and let it go to sleep. After that It went back to the way it normally vapes with a 1 second delay from sleep and a slower preheat at applied wattage. It hasn't happened again and I have no idea what occurred to make it get confused and convice the ChiNA40 to act like a Dna40 for a 20 minute stretch of time.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else?

Yes, this is happening to me this very second, I remember reading this post yesterday and just noticed what is happening with my flask.

I just took delivery of a lemo 2 and put twisted 30g 11 wrap@3mm on it at .20ohm. I have the flask set for 28w@470F. When I fire it it ramps up to 32-34w for the first few seconds until it hits around 250f then settles down at 28w at 270-280F. this is the first time I have noticed this happening with my Waida flask. Mostly it just ramps up to the selected wattage and stays there or lower if it reaches temp protection.

Interesting that it is doing this now with just this one atty of mine, the lemo 2, I have mainly been using drippers on it, plume veil and hobo 2 and have not noticed this at all with them. I gave up trying with my lemo and lemo drop as the resistance kept jumping all over the place even after trying some of the fixes posted in this thread.

P.S The Lemo 2 is rocking on the Waida, no probs with it so far, resistance is rock solid and it gives an exceptional vape.

Agreed. No one realized it until Willie took his apart. Once the issue was noticed I got word through Nicole to Waidea that an Immediate correction to the deficiency should be implemented. That message has been delivered.

It is a well built unit & works well. I have 2 here and only had one incident of aggressive preheat for about 20min. I'm not worried about it because I know how to repair it and when they start acting up I'll pop the top plate & do the work. Not worth sending it back for a warranty repair & I don't know that I trust Waidea to repair it properly considering they did it that way in the first place.

Pretty cool when it happens isn't it? Operates rock solid, heats to temp in no time, and vapes like a dream, unitl it goes to sleep that is. My Kangxin never did that. Maybe when I get around to fixing my ground it will do it all the time.

Yes, I'm impatient... It's been a few days since my flask shipped from focal out of China, the tracking still says shenzen. Is that normal?

Mine took nearly 3 weeks to get to my door in Australia after I got the 'Your package has left China' Message on tracking. I would not be holding your breath on fast shipping, I did and nearly passed out. You may get a nice surprise and have it turn up fast though, some people have had theirs arrive in a week.

The difference in delivery times has more to do with customs in the receiving country than anything else.

Thanks Tpat. Sounds about right. Might just skip the flask and get an IPV4 if they ever ship:)
That's your choice.

I was never really a fan of the flask but I wanted a TP mod I could afford, had 2 batteries, & I could watch the screen on as I vaped. Now that I have three of them I like it a lot & the Waidea is a really nicely put together unit that works well. Yeah, WierdWillie did figure out there is a grounding issue there that is easily fixable, but to do so you void your warranty.

Hopefully Waidea will institute the recommended correction of the grounding issue shortly in subsequent manufacturing runs.

All that said, I do not regret having purchased the units at all.

It also depends on whether they sent it via e-packet express or regular china [slow boat] post. I paid for e-packet which usually gets to me within 7-10 days from china but it was sent regular China post and took over 3 weeks.

Focal included E-packet at no charge to USA. If you paid for E-packet & they didn't send it that way you are owed a reimbursement for that cost.

LOL .. Andy from Waidea skyped me tonight to say that they have sourced the brass ring terminal and they will implement it going forward. I also reiterated the need to establish a ground down into the chassis and Andy said they would implement that also ... we will see. I will continue to follow up about it since I speak to Andy frequently.

Thanks to Tpat and Weirdwillie for the info, photos and directives. :)

when they sent mine out from USA Ware-House it took about 30 hours for tracking to show, now it's been in Jacksonville, NC since 1pm yesterday w/no updates yet....i'll be checking later tonight

You will probably get it tomorrow, tracking is usually kind of behind if not lacking some other way.
