So im new to vaping, i started only 1 month ago and recently when i bought a new e-liquid with VG / PG ratio - 70/30 0mg i started to feel that the vapor that comes out got really hot. I use eleaf ijust 3 i use HW-N 0.2ohm 40W~90W coil and the e-liquid i used before was with VG / PG ratio - 50/50 3mg. Any ideas on how i can fix this. Also when i vape the tank gets way more hot than before.

Hi and welcome,
What wattage are you using?
Start below the suggested minimum and work up a watt or two at a time until you get the vape you like. The numbers printed on the coil are only for guidance, find your own best wattage.

FIXED OUTPUT DEVICE- DOH. Thanks @DeloresRose
Have you tried something like the HW1C 35W-40W?
How long did you smoke and how many per day?
Perhaps you could add a bit of distilled water to thin the juice just a little.

Cheers
I

You have a fixed voltage device which means the resistance of the coil dictates the power output which in turn can dictate how hot your vape is. Higher the power, the hotter the vape. This is not necessarily a bad design, one of my favorite devices is also fixed voltage. This just means you are challenged in finding the right coil that suits your vaping style. There maybe some trial and error in finding that coil.

Also with a fixed voltage, as your battery starts to drain so does your power output. Eleaf does not give the voltage specifications of your device (that I was able to find) but generally this will be in the range of 4.2 volts at full battery, down to 3.2 volts.

On a fixed voltage device, higher resistance does equate to lower power output. However, keep in mind that mass of the coil also plays an important part and that higher mass requires more power. We do not know the mass of these coils so we are back to trial and error.

You can use Ohms law to get an idea of what your power output will be based on the resistance of the coil. Steam Engine has excellent calculator (link below) but let’s look at 2 examples.

HW-N coil at 0.2 ohms

4.2 volts (full battery) = 88 watts (your device caps this at 80 watts)
3.2 volts (low battery cutoff) = 50 watts

HW2 Coil at 0.3 ohms

4.2 volts (full battery) = 58 watts
3.2 volts (low battery cutoff) = 34 watts

Hi orte01. Welcome to the ECF.

It could be that when you Switched to that Higher VG e-Liquid that your Coil's Wicking is having a hard time keeping up.

Since you Can't Turn Down your mods wattage, you might try adding a drop or two of Distilled Water to a tank full of e-Liquid and see if that helps.

Have to admit, when reading the thread, I was somewhat distracted by my cat wanting attention (she is a demanding little bugger!!) and did not acknowledge there was a change in e-liquid. Non the less, my post can still have value to the problem but yes, I would try a drop or 2 of distilled water.

Maybe I'm just dazed and confused, but how does that graphic help in deciding which coil to use? It shows how many coils there are, but no information on the coil resistance (ohms) or what the recommended wattage range is.

Edit: I tried to copy/paste the graphic and it didn't display properly. The coil resistance and recommended wattage setting don't show up in the second column for some reason. There must be a glitch.

However if one clicks on the below link they do show up.

Second edit: Hmmm. It doesn't display properly for me, either.

I don’t understand how that graphic can be of any help – especially on a fixed voltage device. The HW1-C is rated at 0.25 ohms and recommended to be used between 25 to 50 watts. On a Fixed voltage device at full battery you are pumping 70 watts into that sucker!

Could possibly use coils from a different manufacturer with a higher ohm rating.
Different Tanks But Same Coils: Coils That Are Interchangeable

Good point but keep in mind that despite the eLeaf coils are modeled around the TFV8 Baby coil head, there could be slight variations in the manufacturing process which could mean that the coil may fit, but not make the proper contact. I have also found that “claimed” compatible coils do not always fit as well. It’s a gamble but given the low(ish) price of these coils it maybe worth the effort.

    Welcome.

That sort of hardware makes a lot of vapor. Yes.. it will be hot.

In a way, when we started vaping, such high power was not available and this meant we didn't suffer from running before we could walk.

I recommend walking for a bit. I would suggest you try something in the 10-20w category with stronger liquid. I'm not sure I would/could enjoy that rig. I have vaped at <100w but I don't like hot vapor. Warm is about the highest I can enjoy.

    Good luck.
