Excellent review, very in-depth indeed.
I have a buzz pro and love it, but this is a great device to recommend to budget minded friends.

Thanks! Yeah, if you've already got a good VV device there's really not a whole lot to recommend the Knight Rider/Lava Tube, but if you're in the market for a first VV tube mod and don't want to spend the money for the premium stuff it's hard to argue against this one. If they can properly drill out that bottom vent I'd find it hard to pick more than nits when it comes to a pretty solid little budget VV tube mod.

Great review! Thanks for taking the time to explain everything with such detail. I was going to get the Provari but now I think I will save myself $150.00 and go with the Lava Tube.

Glad you enjoyed it! It may not be the indestructible cudgel the ProVari (nor, in my opinion, as good-looking) but it's certainly worth its price tag to be certain.

Whats the highest voltage you can use the lavatube with a 1.5 ohm atomizer? Also ive heard that when you drip with the lavatube it leaks down into the battery compartment??? Great review!!

Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Like the ProVari, the Lava Tube can handle a max draw of 2.5A, though also like the ProVari it's slightly forgiving and can usually go a bit above that. a 1.5ohm carto at 4V comes out to 10.66 watts output and 2.66A current, which it an usually handle alright. The PRoVari can sometimes throw an E2 error at that voltage on that carto though and I sometimes have to drop it down to 3.9V (2.60A) before it's fine. The LavaTube won't error out, but will instead automatically drop the voltage for you, though that won't be reflected on the display. So you can set the Lava Tube to 6V if you want to, but the limiter inside will drop it down to ~4V when you vape it while the display will still read 6.

As for dripping, I haven't had that issue yet but I can see it being a possibility if the juice is thin enough. The caps and the 510 connection aren't sealed, they're just press-fit, so if there is any gap there it's entirely possible thinner juices could seep down inside. If you're worried about it, go grab some non-toxic silicone sealant (get the stuff used for aquariums from your local pet store) and run a thin rivulet of it around the base of the 510 connection and let it set. Gorilla Glue will work, too. (Give that at least 45 minutes to set though; it's also non-toxic, but only once cured.)

Thanks for your input Mindfield! I might just have to give the lavatube a try! Yeah like ive said before i heard another ecf member i think said that they had liquid leak into the battery compartment but thanks for the tips and tricks to fix that!

Glad to help! The Lava Tube isn't the most precision crafted PV around to say the least, but for the price, it functions every bit as described, and it's the cheapest way to get a VV tube mod around right now, and the second cheapest way to get a VV mod of any kind that has good battery life. (The first is the MadVapes VV box mod. Ken's Little Sister VV is cheaper too, but since it's powered by a single 10440, battery life is dismal.)

I have been looking for an upgrade for my husband. We are currently using SLB Rivas from litecigusa.net and as I am happy with vapor, power, etc., my husband is looking for more of all of those things. I looked at the ProVari but I want to make sure that he is going to be happy before I sink $200 plus into something that may not be a good fit for him. It's difficult to find a good review on YouTube without disclaimers from folks stating that they have mixed up components from different units to get what they want and are in a "use at your own risk" status. Ultimately, I find myself on ECF and the members here always deliver.

Thanks again for the great review and I am looking forward to surprising my husband with this late Christmas gift. I will be ordering today.

I hope you and your family have a safe and Happy Holiday!

I'm glad you enjoyed the review and it was able to help you make your decision! I'm still very happy with my ProVari and it continues to be my main vape. I use the Lava Tube alongside it, but for the sheer durability, the ProVari is still the one I feel better about taking anywhere. Pricey, yes, for still worth it for me all things considered.

Well...I WAS going to order one today, but apparently the demand has been so high that they are out of batteries and won't have anymore in for 3 to 4 weeks. I don't relish the idea of ordering batteries and a charger from another vendor, so I am going to have to make a decision as to whether I want to wait or go ahead and spring for the ProVari. Thanks again for the information!

It's only 18500/18650s, loads of vendors have them, and to be honest, most have them a lot cheaper than ProVape. The money you'd save on cheaper batteries can help (or completely) cover the cost of shipping.
