Hard to tell with that picture but looks like the user tried to get the remaining coil out themselves and butchered what was left. Hopefully they did not tighten the coil even more. Maybe a little penetrating oil on the threads and see if a pair of needle nose pliers spread and pressed against the inner walls could work.

I have had a lot of success with needle nose pressed on the interior of a, well whatever I couldn't open. I am going to say that is your best bet. I would try it without any sort of lube first, then try lubing it up if you have to.

I don't see enough "coil" to really grab onto with pliers.
