I got duped by this as well. Without knowing much, I found good reviews on the VaporFi Rocket and bought the starter kit. To be fair, it has been a decent device. I charge the battery nightly and replaced the tank with a Nautilus Mini. But I paid more than I should have. I also started my journey with some of their e-juices. Most I did not care for, or have found something I like better. I'll continue to use the Rocket battery until I want to upgrade, but am unlikely to buy anything from them again.

I'm sure the device is fine, most of us have some sort of unusual history with the products we used to get started. Few people get really lucky; I wasted $800 on cig-a-likes and wasn't able to stop smoking. The 'brand' that sold me the product told me I was using it incorrectly when I didn't get 40 cigarettes (400 puffs) from one cartomizer. Most brands just say what they like about their own products... truth and fairness of pricing has got nothing to do with it. I understand that.

Apparently there is confusion over the business models for Vape distributors and resellers. Like most products in todays market, the product you buy is not manufactured by the company on the package, they are distributors, resellers or marketing firms. For example, the Aspire Nautalis is not manufactured by Aspire, but bought from a wholesaler (foundry) who foots the labor and cost of R&D, design and manufacturing then sells the product to a reseller (in this case Aspire) when then have their brand name placed on the product, package it and sell it. In this case the actual manufacturer of the Nautalis is Shenzhen Eyunion Technology Co.,Ltd. This is the same firm that provides VaporFi with the Pro HW and also Kanger and the local brands sold in local retailers, such as Avail on the US east coast. Doesn't make the business practices like price gouging right, but they are not rip-offs, just the same manufacturer with small mods on the periphery of the design to make it "unique" and stamped, etched or otherwise marked with the marketing companies name. But also doesn't mean the product is any less capable, cheap or otherwise a knock-off since it is the same thing, literally, inside and out.

This is the same as grocery store brand products, Costco's Kirkland band and many others. A "foundry" company manufactures the products, then sells the product with various bandings to retailers and resellers when then sell on to the customer. This is done to avoid the spread the risk of warehousing, retail space and stock management. One company manufactures a product, a second completely different markets and sell the product. It is very common, especially with the mass globalization of todays market place.

I'm still relatively new to vaping. Just started about a month ago. I bought the Kangertech Emow, and, except for a couple of minor things, I'm relatively happy with it. The minor things are, I wish it had a longer battery life between charges, and that it had a larger tank. Looks like the EMOW MEGA would take care of this. I've also looked at the VaporFi Rocket. The two appear to be identical. The only difference I can see is, the Rocket costs about double the price of the Mega. If they are the same, why pay double the price for the Rocket? Is there anything that makes it worth that price?

Kanger and joytech make the vaporfi products. But Vaporfi charges more. Vaporfi makes great juice though. They could be one of the best juice makers on the market for sure. I love the BOLD option. 3.6 nicotine for us beasts.

I'm in the process of doing reviews. And having been in the Ecig world since the beginning many of the namebrands come from same place. I remember 901s and 808s being marketed by companies as their own. But you have to look at a few things. First, are they selling a knockoff? China doesn't honor copyrights so you may get something similar but different enough to make it suck. Second, are they buying say kanger and JUST putting their name on it or 3rd are they buying kanger products and having kanger tweak them. The rocket for example is like the emow, and the titanium tank is a mix of kanger products. It's similar to the mega, but it's also similar to Aerotank turbo. Looks like the air flow from turbo and coil and tank from mega. So in this case Vaporfi bought enough to customize it to their liking and brand their name on it. Does it justify the high price? I don't know. So many counterfeits out there I like to buy from known vendors. If it lasts a long time and works great I don't care how much I paid for it. But for coils I try from kanger and Vaporfi and can confirm they are a little different. Kanger actually being a little better.

But I don't think it's just Vaporfi. I mean look at totally wicked. They were formed in UK and they rename everything upping the price. Perfect example is curve. The curve is nothing but a eleaf istick 30w overpriced. So don't just look at Vaporfi djs but it's a common problem. Always has been. Ecigs when they were new 901s being sold for 50-$60 when they were bought for $16 (I still have email quotes). But I'm trying to decide (for when I do reviews this week) which is more important. Buying from a wholesaler for $30-$50 and having little to no customer support if something goes wrong or paying $100 but having great customer service and warranty. As a reviewer I will be getting paid regardless of who I send to. That's why I've decided to be different then most reviewers. I'm going to review the Ecig, but will be also reviewing the companies and letting the people choose which Ecig they like and which company they like. I'm also going to have a direct link and an affiliate link. I'm following the ftc guidelines of saying I'm a paid affiliate but let people choose which link to click. If they like my review support my site by clicking affiliate link. If not click direct link. But that will give users the choice.

TW never took on the same massive price hikes of Vaporfi. Nor did they boast 400% mark-ups to their re-sellers.

When the 20w iStick came out it was £30. TW charged £40 with a clearo (GS Air) and liquid. Almost the same price.

They charged £59.99 for the MVP v.2 when it was £39.99 from independent stores. (so, not as much as double, basically) ... but these days are almost finished, too much competition.

Vaporfi claimed the rocket "was" $279.99 reduced to "only" $119.99 for most of 2014.
It's a $40-$50 e-cig from most stores.
In the UK, they would be in court for selling under those pretenses... it's illegal.

Anyhow, I've been saying for years that reviewers should be paid. It's a more transparent arrangement.

Well most reviewers are paid. They do the review and the link to the place to buy it is an affiliate link. Or the coupon code is their way of getting credit. Different places offer different commissions. Anyone can see how much by clicking affiliate at the bottom of the companies site. But here is what's NOT right, is companies offering more if you place them in first. That makes many reviewers biased. And another thing about paid reviewers is this: send them to vapordna for a kanger mega selling for $30 and get 10% or send them to Vaporfi and sell rocket for 120 getting 30% commission. So $3 or $36 for sending someone to one or the other. That's where I want to be different. I want to push people to Vaporfi because I believe in that company, but I'm also going to let people know there are similar products elsewhere. Which is where the company reviews I hope will help people decide is it worth it to pay more or not.

That's not it at all. As I said I'm calling Vaporfi out on there being other places that sell similar ecigs at half the price. And I'm going to link the different places. But I honestly like Vaporfi. Call me stupid for paying more, but when I've had questions the online chat and phone support was there. But I also understand there are people out there that will never need help and buying a cheaper similar model may be fine for them. I'm not pushing Vaporfi for the fat commissions. If I was I wouldn't even mention alternatives. I just want people to have options and review different companies with same product so consumers can make their own choice. Is the commission good? Sure. But advanced users should go to say vapordna for lower prices. But I am a strong believer that people should have a choice. Everyone has an opinion and I'm going to try to keep mine out of the reviews. But look around most paid reviewers don't do that.

I got a little burnt from my local B&M on my 1st vape, $60 for a spinner twist starter kit. Live and learn. Still I got a mini protank 2 w/ the kit and I've had good results with Kanger tanks and the Emow, & kbox 1 . I'd suggest the Kbox 2/mini for an inexpensive beginner cloud mod. You just gotta ask tons o questions and try it to find your happy place. I like my K tanks and mods, But use Sophia's by Leo for my Provari's. but on My kbox... I use a kanger pro1&& and I like it. Old school meets new tech, works for me!
