One of my favorite things to make when I need "comfort" is to chop up a whole bunch of garlic (last night I chopped up two small heads--not cloves--for this). Then I briefly heat up the garlic--careful not to let it burn--in a whole bunch of butter. I throw in a bunch of hot pepper flakes. Then I toss cooked pasta in this spicy, garlicky, butter mess. . . top with lots of parmesan cheese.
This, in fact, is what I made for dinner last night, and I'm about to go re-heat some for lunch. This is a favorite when I'm stressed out about something--this always makes me feel better. (Of course, it's not a good idea if I'm going to be around people--the garlic is potent!)
