Mine has mostly been shark skinned! Atty rash but nothing I can't live with!!

Mine has been in a sharkskin since I got it. Not even atty rash. I did notice there's a chip along the edge of the battery compartment :(.

I use a cut out from a screen saver.

I liked the idea you guys came up with for protecting the top of the device but honestly, I don't care! This this is going to have an atty on top of it just about all the time, plus the fact that I'm pretty sure nobody is going to take this thing away from me just because it's got a little *atty rash!!

*Im gonna jump over to the vape dictionary thread and coin it*

This may have already been discussed but Im curious from someone who has had their VS dna 40 for at least a couple weeks...... does the soft touch coating peel off? Ive had several cell phone cases that had this same coating and it always peels off. Got mine today and it will be in my hand a lot so Im wondering how that coating will weather.

Mine is all scratched up

On a side note, the strawberry cheesecake isn't bad from VS, I got it free for the delay. Too bad USPS doesn't offer free stuff for delays...

FWIW, you didn't have to get the juice with the discount code they provided. I was able to use it on a pack of Nautilus TSC coils -- the code just took $14.99 off of the price. Which was nice!

I always wondered the size comparison, what's your opinion on both Cotay? If I don't like my mini, I plan on trading it in for a rDNA40 myself.

After having both for only a few days, I appreciate both devices and wouldn't want to be without either. That said, the SXMini feels better to hold and fits in the hand much more naturally. That said, the bottom metal edges on the screen side of the SXMini are pointy and I do find myself adjusting my hand position at times to avoid them digging into my flesh.

The VS weighs in at 6.8 ounces (7.4 with the Sharkskin) and the SXMini is 6.9 ounces. The VS feels much heavier to me however...but that is purely psychological as a result of its form factor (lack of rounding) I think.

Both are a pleasure to Vape and feel like premium devices. Their respective buttons are excellent but I'd give the advantage slightly to the SXMini. I prefer the screen on the rDNA40 and the new large font in Right Hand mode is awesome. I love the screen location on the VS (I also own a DNA30) and find it much easier to adjust one-handed.

The finish on the SXMini is more robust and doesn't require any skins...the VS I think needs the Sharkskin to keep its beauty. The VS is a breeze to change the battery (although it becomes difficult if you have the necessary Sharkskin installed) and the 510 connector is far superior. The SXMini is a bit of a chore to unscrew the battery compartment if you don't have a Quarter handy. It's 510 is more finicky than the VS and the best way to set your atty is to attach your atty first and then insert the battery before screwing down the battery cover. Otherwise none of my attys sit flush. I have no such issues with the rDNA40's 510.

The extra wattage on the SXMini isn't that big of a deal for me since I vape around 20-25 watts with my RTAs and 10 watts on my clearos.

Funny thing is that I find myself reaching for the known quantity of my VS DNA30 too...I hope VS comes out with a DNA40.

Feature wise, the SXMini's soft/standard/powerful modes are fun and the memory settings are fantastic. I haven't gotten used to the G-sensor yet and find that I'm overcorrecting...but ease of use should come with time and familiarity. As it stands now, the VS is simpler to use (maybe because I'm more familiar with it).

The SXMini is more stable on my desk since the Sharkskin on the rDNA40 makes it a bit wobbly.

These are just a few early observations. I think you'll like the SXMini...my biggest peeve with it is the 510 connector and how you need to get attys to sit flush. If I had to choose only one I'd likely have stuck with the rDNA40, but now that I have both I wouldn't ever (at least until the next greatest thing comes along) part with either.

thanks for your very detailed opinion. I myself am contemplating on whether to pick up a rDNA40, the thing I hate about the SXMini, is the 510 as you stated, I'm finding mine to be a bit wobbly with an atty screwed on, and I can't seem to get my Doge to sit flush on it, no matter how many times I try to tighten it down, it looks as if it's spinning freely. And, I would've preferred a magnetic battery door as well.

Try pulling the battery and then attach the atty. Then install the battery and screw down the cover. That's the advice I received in the SXMini thread and it does work....but we shouldn't have to do that.:) And sorry...I missed earlier that you have the SXMini. I think the 510 is the biggest issue and have no concerns with the VS in that regard. If that matters to you, the rDNA40 is going to be better for you.

Yeah it's getting a tad annoying adjusting the battery cover on the mini.. whenever I feel it not threading properly I have to adjust it. And I notice that button-top batteries don't sit flush in the mini.

My rDNA 40 arrived today! It should've been here yesterday, but the post office put it on the wrong truck so I had to wait an extra day. I've been lurking this thread for the past few weeks as a guest and decided I should just join the forum and start participating. Anyways... Super happy to finally have it after the wait (one of the Cyber Monday orders, obviously) BUT my nickel builds aren't working as well as I had hoped. I suppose that after reading up on everything everyone has already posted I thought that I knew all the tricks and was ready to start wrapping awesome coils but it's proving to be harder than it looked on my computer screen. Luckily I'll have plenty of free time this week to experiment and troubleshoot. Mostly I'm just relieved that the wait is over!

I'm contemplating taking a bunch of high quality pictures of the rDNA and posting them. Would anyone be curious to see those or would I be wasting my time? :p

I thought about that but only after I had already bought the coils. I actually like the vape I got so no big deal.

Looks like my rDNA has finally come back south from Portland and should be delivered tomorrow before I go into work. The wait is finally almost over! Hang in there guys they are coming to us finally...

Congrats! Personally, I always love to see pics of people's setups.
