Just got back from the gym and tried this out. Twisted 30ga with a 3.1mm inner diameter, 0.17 ohm

Was concerned about hot legs (an issued I had encountered when I had tried this before), but as it turns out, all was well!

Currently vaping at 25 watts, 420F. Working well. Hopefully it holds up for the rest of the day

I ordered on cybermonday from VS and it hasn't shipped yet.

Was told last week that it will be shipped early Jan.

rDNA was the first Xmas gift I ordered....

Still haven't received any notification on delivery although have gotten several other offers to buy items from VS.

Think I'll wait til they can prove they can ship the first order before I take another sojourn.

....... VS has already repeatedly stated that shipment will begin mid jan. SMH

after repeatedly stating 10 days.....15 days......30 days....

I guess we'll see what they say come mid January....

Maybe by that time they'll delay again but tell me I'm getting the DNA 50:)

Right.

And hence it would make sense if AFTER the stated deadline, you still have not gotten shipping notification, that you should be complaining about not receiving one.

All I'm saying its a pretty moot point to say that you haven't received a shipping notification if you're still 3 weeks from the shipment day, no?

If they can send me offers to buy additional equipment from them they can send me a notification (better stated --update) directly about why I would not be receiving the device on their original promised ship date of 10 days.

Instead I had to search this info out myself.

This info went from 10 to 15 to 30 to now "sometime in mid-January".

My point is that I'm not inclined to believe any date at this time and I'll get the device when I get the device--and I'm no longer sure what device I'll actually receive.

Vapor Shark - Refinish!?

Hey guys just thought i would post some photos of my VS rDNA30 - It has been in a Shark Skin 98% of its life and this is what it now looks like after 2 months use.

First the paint started chipping away on the top - not from drops or abuse, just simply from wiping the odd juice away or removing atomizers.

Secondly, from moisture build up (I presume) in the Shark Skin, bubbles started to form under the paint. I never noticed this initially and must have happened over the last 2 or so weeks as i would take it out now and again to wipe it all down.

This to me is not acceptable from a mod of this price and from a company of their stature. I pride each and everyone of my mods and take good care of them, but all these finish problems were out of my control. Yes i live in an area that has high humidity, but i really feel they should have applied a better coating of paint than this. Or if they couldn't then they should have left it without. Am i the only one this has happened to?

I am going to work on stripping all the paint off it today, as i have a dremel and the tool bits to do it. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

Once you get this sorted, it'll be the best $200 you ever spent on vape gear :D

Thanks for the wisdom KTMRider :)

I got home and rebuilt my nickel build. Looks like this:
30g Ni200
Dual 10 wraps Spaced
0.12 ohms
temp between 450-470
40 watts

She's vaping alot better now. I must have cut through the lead or wasn't making a good connection because it was barely creating any visible vapor before i rebuilt.

KTMRider do you vape on mechanical mods at all? Did you switch directly from your ego style to a regulated device? I'm used to my stingray x putting out so much vapor I can only take a 2-3 second draw before I have to stop. I can get close to what I'm used to with like an 8 second draw on the dna 40 but I guess its just gonna take some getting used to. I also noted that you are only using 25 watts??? Maybe i'm just too hardcore :p Its either that or your getting more out of 25 watts that I am.

what guage wire are you using, inner diameter (size of what youre wrapping on), temp setting? and single or dual coils?

Yeah I've seen some bad finishes on this device. Almost every picture posts I've seen has chipping and horrible finishes. On another note, the rDNA40 looks like they upgraded the finish on that and it should last longer, they have also stopped producing the rDNA30's so I dont think the actual manufactuerer will be selling any more of the device (your device). Looks like they are taking a step in the right direction, but yes I agree that a device at that price range shouldn't see that much wear and tear so quick. I bought a Solara DNA30 for around 175$ and if I saw the finish was as horrible as the VS rDNA30 I would have given the company hell and asked them to make it right or requested a full refund, but that's just me.

The finish on my Solara DNA30 has been holding up and looks more quality than the original Vaporshark rDNA30, and with the costs being the same they really did a terrible job on the finish of the VS rDNA30.

Also could you post pictures of your VS when you are done stripping the finish? Im curious as to what it would look like, or if youd have to put some coat ontop of it to prevent it from oxidizing

Good to hear you got it sorted out :thumb:

I still don't know what atomizer you're using so it's not really a fair comparison. I've never owned a mech mod and have no interest in them. I used to be into r/c cars and flashlights that use LiIon batteries and know that high drain batteries aren't the safest and I certainly wouldn't want it near my face. But that's just me.

I'm more of a mouth to lung hitter and I use mostly Kayfuns. I take 2-3 sec draws and it produces a fair amount of vapor. I have a RDA (SMOK Caterpillar) with a 1.3Ω dual coil and that can produce really thick coulds @ 18-25w but I'm really not into that so I don't drip often.

For Ni200, I've been using 30g twisted or 28g spaced coils, 2.8mm ID, 10 wraps at .13Ω vaping at 16w, 420°F and it's a cool vape with lots of flavor and vapor. It hovers right around 420°F too and rarely hits TP.

I've seen a few of these finishes that end up looking like that after a couple of months. My rDNA40 and DNA30 both have the exact same finish. I've had my rDNA for about a month and the finish is still perfect. I've also seen buttons that were scratched to hell but mine looks brand new still and it's been my daily vape since I got it. I bought the DNA 30 to carry around with me but I find myself still taking the rDNA with me when I go out more often than not.

I would definitely call them (not e-mail) and have them take care of it. Don't take their excuse that the finish isn't covered under their warranty because that's BS.

I would use paint stripper first and attempt to remove all the paint with stripper and a solvent (Isopropyl alcohol) wash. Looks pretty doable from your images.

I really like my rDNA40, but I would much rather have a finish a like the pic below over the black. Be sure to show the pics if you decide to strip the paint off.
