TheKiwi, Are those from the hydro coating? I will be sending mine in this week to swap out the chip and hydro coating but may ask for a refund if that's what they do to it..

I'm glad to hear the screen glitches are gone now. As for the button finish wearing off I'm going to try putting on clear nail polish on it to see if it lasts longer.

To be honest I have absolutely no idea haha. I have quite a few electronic stuff with essentially the same coating and I've never seen any residue quite like that to be honest.

Truth be told, I harbor a healthy dose of skepticism about how effective it is. Not too sure why but I do have some doubts on the efficacy of the application process used by VS. If those residues are indeed from the coating then well. I would think it's indicative of poor process. Just fyi, this unit was a brand new one, not one of my mods that I sent in to get coated :)

Anywaaaaays. Bad QC aside, I love my rDNA40. For me it's the one mod with the best overall "package": size, feel, performance etc.

Side note: does anyone know if the new rdna40 have chrome plated 510 connection still? The dna40 has the new stainless steel 510, and I am somehow under the impression the new rdna40 will too

ETA: HMM. Think it's still chrome plated brass 510 :/ sure looks like it on the mod itself. On the website, the dna40 page explicitly states that it's using a stainless steel 510, but not the case for the rdna40.

"Sheet show..." Hmmm... somehow I've missed that one and Google's no help. I can guess what it means but in what industry was it coined. (Which is to say, what's its etymology?)

HAHAHAHA I meant poop show. I was trying to be a punk and sneak past the filter :p

Welp hello everyone! It's time to eat my words.

Got back home, took a qtip dipped in 99 IPA and wiped up the new rDNA40 with the vape shield coating.

Turns out all the "wear" and "scratches" were some kinda weird crusty deposition. I clearly have no clue what it is, but now my mod is in mint condition.

GONNA keep vaping at it on 40W And see if I can catch any glitches. Finger crossed!

That is good news. Mine is on it's way to ebay or the member selling forum. Haven't decided which

^haha obviously it's not my place to say this but hopefully you're honest and fully disclose whatever flaws you find on the device!

Oh I will disclose what I have found. I think I am gonna put it up on the forum with 4 shark skins and a extra Samsung 25R battery and be done with it

after 2+ months of use of my VS rDNA40, I'd just like to post a short review on it.

I ordered this VS on Cybermonday of last year, and received it in early january. From all the positive reviews and testimonials added with the cybermonday sale I decided to purchase this mod. When I first received it I was impressed by the heft and quality of the mod. It is very small and 'palmable'. Normal wear and tear to the finish created tiny silver spots due to paint chipping off, nothing major just few tiny little specks of silver where the coating came off. Seems acceptably durable. A few days ago I dropped it by accident from 3-4 feet onto solid concrete, RDA+Battery and all, the magnetic cover flew off and the topcap on my RDA came off. Since the mod is so heavy the damage on the finish was more apparent with pieces of the metal on the corners becoming chipped off and rough. It still works perfectly fine but I personally would prefer maybe a natural brushed steel finish so if stuff like scuffing or chipping of paint happens, I can just buff it off. (Dont want to use a sharkskin)

To the performance of the mod itself I've had no issues with using it in kanthal (non temp control) mode. The Nickel builds are a pain in the ... to get correct and I've tried fussing around with it, it just doesnt give the same flavor of Kanthal whether im doing nickel builds wrong or not. (I've read advice and dont want anymore advice, It's just too much hassle for me personally and not worth it to me) I've come to just ignore the temp control mode and nickel builds altogether and just use it for Kanthal builds. The short circuit protection and reverse battery protection are the main features I like about this mod, and are the only positives I see other than the form factor. The short circuit and reverse battery protection are WELL worth it and makes it so easy to build with less hassle, you can just build a coil stick it on the mod and use it as an ohm checker in its own right.

Overall I'd say what I paid for the mod on cybermonday (i think around 140$) it was well worth it. I wouldn't buy it again at its original price though but personally its just an aesthetics thing. I just don't want to baby my mod to keep it looking like new. After a few more months im sure my rDNA40 will look like a battleworn warrior. If they made the finish more natural like some mech's where dents and dings arent as clearly visible I would probably buy it at its original price again.

Why not try some of the atty's that have prebuilt nickel coils available, like the Kanger Subtanks or AeroTanks. My Aerotank Mini works consistently great, no muss, no fuss, no bother. (The Aerotank V2 not so much and I'm not fussing with it, at least not right now, I have other priorities.)

Well it's like my rDNA knew I was thinking about finally returning it. After a few weeks of working fine with no issues the screen went wonky 3 times yesterday. So since it sounds like Evolv might have it fixed finally I contacted VS this morning for a return label. This is so less stressful now that I have a back up TP shark. Especially since I don't have to switch any atty's back to kanthal while I wait.
