yeah it comes with a 0.4 and 0.6 coil so will try them out - just ordered it so hasn't arrived yet:)

Definitely play with it a bit before getting packs of coils. Those Smok coils are expensive, so best to have an idea of what you're getting before spending good money on something that doesn't work out. Enjoy!

The higher the wattage and VG, the more clouds bro, clouds. Really depends on your vaping style...I can fog a room up in no time @ .4ohm 50w vaping 80/20 liquid. Just remember: the lower ohms require MOOOOO POWAHHHH. If you don't vape a low ohm coil at high enough wattages, you risk gunking the coil up...trust me...I've gunked coils up by not running them hot enough. :)

Is that because the puffs are going to be much longer when vaping low watts?

Not that the puffs are much longer, it's just the coils don't get hot enough. I mean, regulated mods and stock tanks are different compared to mechs and alien coils in rda's. Your mileage may vary, but believe me: you will notice a difference between a .4 ohm coil at 40w vs a .15 coil at 40w. Like Eskie stated: smok coils ain't cheap...don't stockpile until you've found your sweet spot :)

What happens if you try vaping at a wattage outside the range the coil should be vaped at?
Lower = not enough vapor
Higher = dry hit/burnt taste/ruined coil

I don't get to the top of the recommended range... too many bad experiences.

If a coil says 20-40w I'll stop at 35w, say.
If I want to vape at 40w, I'll buy a 50w coil.

would it not be cheaper actually to just buy an RBA coil and a bag of pre-made's? I can get a bag of 20 pre-made kangertech coils for $10

or can I buy some pre-twisted clapton coils and use that on my baby beast?

Vaping below the coil's stated range is fine if you like it. I'm often satisfied with the warmth and vapour a bit below range. If you go too low the coil won't even heat up, but it won't harm anything.

The manufacturers' recommended ranges are sometimes exaggerated, so like djsvapour says it's usually best to avoid going too near the top of the range.
