Decided to pick this up today as it was cheap and wanted a second cheapish mod to take to work save ruining my expensive one, and the coil keeps giving off a burning taste? I have it on the lowest wattage which suits the coil apparently,

Judging by your join date here, I'm guessing you are an experienced vaper?
What wattage setting are you using? What is the recommended wattage setting for that coil? What is the Pg/Vg ratio of the juice you're using? Did you prime the coils before vaping?
By the looks of that coil, I'm guessing its made more for a MTL draw and lower wattage settings. Those tiny holes in the coil likely don't like thicker (high Vg) juices. You may be vaping more frequently than the coil can keep up with, resulting in a drier wick and a burnt taste. Once a wick is burnt, you'll never get that taste removed.

usually in to RTA's and anything rebuildable, thought id chance the pre made coil option as I read it can take nautilus coils, only vaping 50/50 confused as to why this should be happening, as you say could be the liquid or the coils burnt maybe, not sure.... hmmmm what can I try?
Hi - it doesn't look like it has jfc. How's the airflow - have you tried opening it up a bit? If you're priming the coil properly (etc), then I'm not sure. Can you try the tank on another mod - maybe reduce the power and see how it fares?

C1 coil: 1.6 ohms, 10-15W
C2 coil: 0.7 ohms, 15-23W
The wicking holes look bigger than on a typical Nautilus coil, but that's a guess. Do you have a Nautilus coil you can try? The 1.8 or 0.7 might be worth a shot.

I won a vapatio setup a WHILE ago. It was not the easiest break in experience I will say that although after oh about 8 hours of fiddling I was able to get a somewhat decent vape.
Tutorials , I might try that. Also you CAN vape below recommended wattage if you want that might help (if it's a decent vape.)
It did not help me (it was a fixed wattage setup) but it might help you, also airflow options and etc.

If you have a vapito cosmic kit, more than likely it is a knockoff/clone.
I have a cosmos tank, if the head is thoroughly primed it works fairly well at least on a truly adjustable output power device.
Priming the head took more drops and they were slower to absorb than a nautilus head. Starting off at a lower power setting like around 8.8w ~ 9.2w for the first couple dozen vapes then slowly increasing power over the first tank to allow head to 'break in' & to ensure wicking they never me gave a funky taste.
I also use 50/50, for me the 1.6Ω head worked best from 9.6w - 11.8w. The .7Ω 10.2w - 17ishw.
If you have the airflow near to or wide open ( 'dtl settings') especially when using the 1.6Ω head it just won't wick well, I suspect due to not enough negative pressure build up in the tank to aide in wicking ability.
Actually mine won't wick either head properly using the 'dtl' / high airflow settings.
Restrict the airflow down to something similar to a nautilus full airflow to slightly more open - no problems.
Like stols001 mentioned, I found the priming/break in process frustrating, took me over an hour of dripping drops & waiting for them to absorb to ensure the wicking was fully saturated. I ruined the first 2 heads trying to rush priming & turning up the power too soon.
Side by side with a nautilus, I think the cosmos is 'better', but it does have a few shortcomings. At least with mine the heads are difficult to properly prime, as the head ages it starts to flood especially when refilling. I had one head allow liquid to flow out the airflow almost as fast as you could squirt it in, still vaped great no off tastes.
