Variable voltage power supply with LM1084

Its kinda large and bulky, and requires a 18 v input, but it would work for a large table top passthrough.

That thing is huge. With a linear regulator it isnt going to be very kind if you plan to run on batteries.

These are pretty popular here and they can take a beating. The switching regulator will be better for batteries, but these are the ultimate passthough board. I've run mine at 18 watts (on accident) with a 1.5ohm carto for most of a day, and I typically ran 1.5 ohm dual coils at 12-14 watts before switching to high resistance single coils.

In fact, I plan to use an AC adapter, i want to build a desktop station. But i tried with a LM317t circuit and it does not work, the volt meter reads 7 volts but when I vape, the voltage drop out to 3.39 volts. I want to build something like the provari that delivery, to the atomizer, the same voltage that the in the voltmeter gives.

The one that you linked is feedback regulated so it should deliver the set voltage and compensate for dropout.

I did not see a price on that regulator, only a link to purchase as a kit. If you already have one then I'd go for it. If you don't have it already, then it's hard to argue $1.70 for the LM2596. You can't even buy the bare chip for that price.
