Hey everybody, just got my new Smoktech SID today, and was wondering if y'all could help with something. So I'm brand new to vaping, and I found that it shows me Resistance. What is resistance? Is it something I account for with wattage or voltage? I have it set to voltage. Is there a major difference between wattage, and voltage?any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Resistance basically gives you an idea on how many volts you will need to power your coil (heating element in your tank). The higher the resistance, the higher volts you will need. A variable volt device allows you to manually adjust your volts according to the resistance of your coil to get the kind of hit you want.

Variable watts is basically variable volts in automatic form. Watts is a calculation between volts and resistance. If you like the hit a 8 watts, you can set your device at 8 watts instead of volts, and your device will adjust the volts to equal 8 watts according to whatever the resistance of your coils are. So, if you started with a coil with a resistance of 2, and switched to one with a resistance of 2.5, your device will automatically up the volts. If you switched to a resistance of 1.5, your device automatically adjust the volts lower.

Variable wattage offers a couple of convenience advantages over VV. In the VW mode (set at 7.0 watts for example) you can switch out atomizers of different resistances with no need to do a new voltage adjustment for the different atomizer. VW will do that automatically for you. The atomizer with the different resistance will still fire at 7.0 watts. As the coil resistance drifts with age there is no reason to adjust a VW rig to compensate. Again, that compensation will be done automatically for you. Even with these VW advantages it is just as easy to adjust the wattage of a VW device up or down to suit as it is with a VV device.
