I'm vaping this juice in the Aspire dual 1.8, and it seems to be wicking fine (no burnt taste, unless my taste buds are immune to it by now :glare:), but all I'm getting is a pure salty taste. It's not so bad that I'm refusing to perform tests on it, but it's sort of tasting just like I put my tongue to a sea salt grinder. I've tried slow increments of 3.3-4.1 so far, I went slightly above that and I got a slightly mechanical taste along with the "loud sizzle" that indicates a pretty dry wick. Haven't went above that. Dunno if the caramel flavoring just isn't vaporizing or what. I can smell this juice like crazy, and it smells crazy good. Just can't get a taste other than salt out of it.

If anyone wants to chime in any tips or what they vaped it at, please let me know!

(I seemed to get more of a caramel taste with this in a CE4...)

I would contact VCV. See if they will take a look at the juice, that doesn't sound right. That flavor is sweet, and the ingredient flavors would not be salty. Even the caramel wouldn't be THAT salty. Sounds like a bad batch to me.

Did you wash the clearo out first if it was new?

I never vape anything that is "off tasting".

Well, I soaked the Aspire tank and all its parts before the test in distilled - I had not put many a juice in the tank previously (only a rum, menthol, and chocolate). It was the 6th head I've tried with the tank, all of the heads giving me an oily, fishy, or in this case, extremely salty vape. This is literally the weirdest taste I've ever experienced in a vape in my life, and the Aspire heads seem to be causing a lot of extremely funky tastes. I think it's just the heads (the CE4 gave me a better taste, but just wasn't wicking well) but I think I remember some salty aspects to that one too.

It smells wonderful, but blegh, a horribly salty vape. It tastes just like a pile of salt on the tongue. It's even stingy like salt. Ton of vapor though.

I vape Velvet Cloud all the time among others and the taste you described I have never heard attributed before. You say you have tried six heads with the tank all with the same taste, is this only with this juice or other juice too? You say you soaked you tank in distilled; distilled what? The sizzle you hear I believe is a hot coil with your volts up. 4.1volts o a 1.8 ohm coil is 9.3 watts probably hot enough to burn your juice. IMHO I would boil your tank and retry the juice. If you get the same result contact Velvet Cloud I have found there customer service A1.
good luck

Well, it's strange, all the 6 heads had one extreme bad taste or another. Oily. Salty. Charcoal. Burnt Rubber. Wet Paper. Just weird stuff. Extremely weird stuff.

And I didn't start my test at 4.1, I started it at 3.3. The very first hit was like a wave of salt shaker. I dialed it all the way up to 4.8 eventually, and the taste didn't get better or worse. Stayed exactly the same. A slight mechanical taste at one point down the line, but allowing a few moments to wick cleared that up and provided a full on, salty sea grizzle that would make King Triton proud.

Good thing this was the 10ml free sample, but truth is, I ordered from VCV because with the $5 discount, getting 25ml's worth of juice for $6 was a steal. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise, so having a free bottle that tastes ruined really upsets me. But I do think it's the Aspire. Someone else tasted saltiness to VCV's caramel, and I would think that salt would be used as an organic preservative, but I think the Aspire is pulling it out way too much. But it may be VCV's mistake, who knows.

I just know that I adore the way VCV juices smell, and if I can get them to vape like they smell, I'll be in heaven.

P.S. Distilled water.

I'll say that I bought my Aspire and heads from a certain vendor on the east coast, the one that would be the "main choice."

I've thought "maybe it just needs steeping", but if salt is an ingredient in this organic vape, it could get worse with steeping because salt doesn't evaporate. And it's 0nic, which shouldn't really require steeping as much as a nic based juice.

Someone else reported a salty taste to the Caramel Tobacco version, but not as strongly.

After testing this juice out, I walked outside, and it was like a caramel cloud was following me around, I smelled wonderful. My taste buds were horrid though!
