I just got a 120ml casablanca from backwoods brew which unlike my original batch was not a yellow tint but more of a orange red tint and it was extremely harsh and unvapable needless to say they sent me a replacement batch and everything looks good. My question is this seems to be happening often from several big name vendors had bad batches of gorilla juice too lately .... So DIY experts what exactly is going on in these bad batches???? Too much nicotine (dangerous) not enough vg / pg or flavorings??? Quite confused how this quality control is taken so lightly as this could present danger

I went through this with some Boba's and GJ. The vendor insisted there was nothing wrong with the juice. There was because I wasn't the only one who had the problem. Needless to say I found new vendors. AVE is great but I needed something consistent. There's a whole thread on their section here on ECF about the bad liquid. I'm curious if a DIYer could say what could cause it but there's probably too many variables.

I had one bad bottle of juice from a vendor in the past and they rectified the situation faster than I thought was possible. I ordered a bottle of Honey Pearry from The Vapor Chef and something just seemed off. i ordered 30pg/70vg and it was watery and without that flavor punch. I emailed them about it, and told them that I was placing an order for pickup (they're local to me) and by the time my order was ready for pickup (later that afternoon) my fresh bottle already went out in the mail. I've never had another issue with them since. Great company to deal with.

Hey jd
May I ask what dates are on the bottle or when you ordered? I have a 60ml from 8/20 and a 30ml from 9/3. I haven't tried them yet because they're steeping. They look a little orangy/red.

thanks man!

p.s. i really dig BB and Casa especially

btw I tried to vape that orange /red batch and it felt toxic and nasty big time.. burned the .... out of my throat... and this is actually pissing me off because careless vendors are being careless about the reason we began vaping in the first place.. at this point in all for the FDA stepping in.

Happened to me 3 times with 3 different premium vendors.

Next time I ordered, the juices were *right* again. LOL

Of course, I only use 2 of those vendors now.......that's because the 3rd one didn't seem to think there was anything wrong even though I submitted photos, etc. comparing other bottles I had. C'est le vive.....if they don't care about my satisfaction, they are out the door and I move on to somebody else who wants my money

The 2 that still get my biz were QUITE concerned, and not only replaced, but sent me a return label so I could send back so they could do some QC on the juices to see what went wrong. (the markup / profit on juice is high enough to pretty much allow for most popular/premium vendors to do this anyway!) So a few bucks in postage shouldn't *break* them

I've said it before and I'll say it again......regulation happens when people don't "step up" and if they can't be accountable voluntarily then....

well... I'd send the picture to don... at bwb...

but typically, casablanca is HARSH for the first couple of weeks...

I NEVER STEEP JUICE... with maybe 2 exceptions... BWB Casa and another juice from a different vendor.. CASA needs 3-5 weeks to be vapable for me... it should steep at least 4-8 days anyway.

I was a beta tester for it 4 years ago- and I have bought SOOOOO much over the years...

I don't recall ever having a batch that color though... but it has always been harsh out of the mailbox... peppery and spicy... then it mellows smooth and somewhat chocolatey... it's the tobacco component that does it to the juice...

Sometimes the NIC can vary in color...

In any case, you should contact them... Don takes pride in his work and if there is a problem, I can't imagine him not helping... go to the BWB forums... post the pic..... ask the faithful.

So to play devil's advocate, would a regulatory body stepping in and regulating the industry stop any inconsistencies in juices?

With the proper equipment and employee training, there would certainly be less chance of bad batches? Regulations often require certain kinds of equipment (dispensers that are automatic and measure properly, for instance) and having an employee training program in place....

However, sending out a replacement isn't exactly taking things lightly....I mean they DID hear you and rectify.

Also, however, I would think the vendor WOULD want to juice back so they could look into what went wrong???

This is why I like batch #s on juice. Or vitamins, or whatever. That way a vendor can instantly look up who got what, on what day, during what time period, etc. and what other batches may have gone out. and then they would seemly want to know exactly what happened, test the juice, etc.

I'm trying it now. It's only been steeping since Aug. 20 and it seems fine. Needs more time though. No burning, icky taste. I'll let it go another couple/three weeks. I think it's o.k. though.
