Vendors with too many flavors

I'm stating my preferences and observations, wondering if anyone else feels the same.

Generally I find that I don't like as much when a vendor (especially one I haven't tried) has too many flavor offerings, and by that I mean over 20 or so. It seems to me more often than not that this translates into many flavors tasting essentially the same with little variation and sometimes that a vendor is trying to compensate for lower quality juices by offering as many flavors as they can (with that said there are indeed some great vendors with a large selection of flavors).

There have been times when I go to try a new vendor and feel overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of choices to the point where I just kind of shut down and don't order anything. I may be kinda weird and unlike others in that respect

I prefer instead vendors that offer a smaller group of more "signature" juices that they have obviously worked hard to perfect. Two vendors that come to mind are Halo and NLV.

Hmmm...I think that the widest possible range of choices is one of the things that makes America great - in any area of good or service. True, there may be some vendors attempting to bedazzle with the range in order to hide a quality shortcoming but, IMHO, it's a great thing for noobs to be exposed to the widest range of flavors possible.

After a while, one discerns one's favorites and either moves to a boutique supplier or goes DIY.

(<Team America> "Lotsa' juices? ...... yeah!")

I can appreciate both sides of this argument. A vendor who has taken the time to perfect a select few flavors will probably have a loyal following that appreciates them. But a vendor that has a wide variety gives the customer the maximum number of choices. I would have to say though that just because a vendor has a lot of flavors doesn't necessarily mean they haven't taken the time to do it right. I've bought juices from both types of outfits and can say from experience that they can offer equally good tasting juice, and equally bad as well.

It's great that so many people have undertaken the task of supplying, IMO, the most important part of vaping. I, too feel overwhelmed when I go to a site that has dozens & dozens of juices, and I have not ordered from many of these vendors. I have found if I don't like the base of a vendor, I probably will not like any of the juices. I am picky; in my 30+ years of smoking, I only smoked Va Slim Menthol. By the time I quit, they were the most expensive cigarettes in AL, and I wouldn't downgrade. vaping is alot cheaper than $13/day for my husband & me.

I have to disagree with Eddie...for noobs its overwhelming to see hundreds of choices from one vendor...especially when they are looking for a quick analog replacement.

Lets see...fire cured, flue cured, hickory, tampa, tennessee, turkish, kentucky...WHICH ONE IS A FRIGGIN MARLBORO?

...and I do see too often where I order 4 flavors from one vendor and they are essentially the same thing.

Like Copper Creeks House Blend, Twisted, and Voodoo flavors...they are different...BUT BARELY. Not enough to warrant different products for sure. Taking one flavor and adding vanilla or caramel to it isnt really a different flavor.

I like Nite Lite right now...9 flavors...BAM...thats all you need.

for noobs it may be overwhelming but for us that have been at it for awhile we may like all the options. i guess i can only speak for myself when i say i love many flavor choices. i like strawberry. so i like the fact that i can choose to sample strawberry milkshake, ice cream, pie, cheesecake, shortcake, soda, strawberry/cream, strawberry/chocolate, gum and jelly. surely ill find one i love. but then again i have been at this for awhile.

Don't be ashamed you posted it. I completely understand it. I used to feel the same way, and used to just get so upset looking at the long lists that I just would not order.

I finally slowed it down a bit and figured out what to do. What I did was order just a few sample flavors to see if I liked them. I chose flavors I thought would be good according to my palette. I also figured out the search functions on the larger juice suppliers sites, that helped so I wasn't looking at a long list and nothing sounded good.

I found that if I did not like the samples, it was usually the flavorings the company used, and I would not like anything they made. So, I started DIY e-liquid and tried different companies flavorings to find which I did like. I kind of stuck with DIY, but occasionally order a bottle of an old fave or a small new flavor just for new DIY ideas.

It seems so overwhelming sometimes, but not to worry, you will find some you like and venture to try others when you get tired of the ones you like everyday. It really worked that way for me.

I'm going to chime in with my personal opinion. Please note others will disagree and I in no way claim to be right and they wrong. In my own personal experience, those with tons of different flavors usually are just squirting flavorings in the pg/vg base. There are vendors making their own personal mixes and creating amazing liquids. However, way too many vendors are just buying from the typical flavoring companies and doing what anybody with a brain could do. Read the reviews on here, ask for opinions, and occasionally adventure out with liquids you have no idea about. Otherwise you're going to have a lot of wasted money invested in subpar liquids you might not even be able to sell. Of course you can use pay it forward on here to bless someone else.

I like flavor varieties, mostly because after creating 50 flavors or more the vendor will start getting into the interesting stuff... very hard to find good florals. I like very strange flavors. As far as daily vapes go, I do like the "ten takes on one flavor" trend; most flavors I will pass by without thought: fruits, most tobaccos, candy, booze... but the 2 or 3 I do like I want to have variety in. So, I love vanilla: do I want french vanilla, vanilla creme, vanilla bean, or vanilla cupcake? I can have "one" flavor without getting bored of literally the same vape all the time.

I'm neutral on the subject. There have been many cases where I got overwhelmed by the amount of options and just decided to not order, but that kinda changed after a few months of vaping. I still stick to my favorites from certain companies I think "perfected" their juices. But I'm now not afraid to just try things for the heck of it, especially when the company sells their juice for a bargain price (I'm lookin' at you ECblends).

I was the same way with analogs actually. Constant Turkish Royal or Newport smoker but I'd be damned if I said I hadn't tried every single pack of smokes available in my area in between smoking my regulars.

All in all, don't be overwhelmed, find your daily vape and try some random stuff in between, you'll get an idea of what the company's demeanor is after a few of their juices.

At first I was overwhelmed by the variety of flavors from so many sites but here's what I did (Posting this to help newbies).

1 - Researched on this site reputable\good eliquid vendors
2 - Tried eliquid from different categories (tobacco, sweet, bitter, fruit, unusual)
3 - Found I liked mildly sweet flavors

I usually order 3 flavors at a time:
1st - Safe\Favorite Flavor (In my care Butter Rum)
2nd - Pick another sweet flavor to try
3rd - Pick something completely different
4th - Most places will include a free sample... When ordering, I ask *very nicely* for a specific flavor for the free sample in the comments field.

This gives me 2 eliquid I'll most likely like and 2 different eliquids to branch out on.

With all this being said...how many MLs of unused and nasty flavors, youll never touch again, do you have sitting in your collection?

Ive got about 150MLs sitting in mine I wish I never bought.

I've probably got around 500ml of stuff I don't care for. It took a while to find flavors I could vape every day. Plus, whenever I order I'll throw in a bottle or two of something different just to try it, of course I end up not liking a lot of them, but that's the way to find out isn't it? My favorite vendor includes a free sample with every order so I've got bunches of those too.

I think I must be very easily pleased when it comes to juices, I can count on one hand the juices I class as unvapable. Some vendors scare me off with too many options, but generally variety is good. My go to vendor has 190 flavours, but this has grown over the last few months, when I first started buying from them they would have had about 100. I think it matters how they're displayed and categorized on the website too. A big list of 200 flavours can be very confusing, but 10 categories with 15 or 20 juices in each is easy to look through.

Can't lie about this one. I've had at least 70 mils of juice I absolutely hated, but I stick to my oppressing rule that I must finish all my juices regardless of how bad they are. I can honestly say that throughout my vaping history, 1/3 of the time I was vaping something I hated.

Trial and error, oh well.

:pI was flabergasted when I first started vaping too. The only problem is that each individual has his own set of tastebuds and no one juice taste great to everyone, so when you take suggestions from other vapers, then order it, just to discover you hate it, you wonder "what was he thinking?" So that being said "to each his own" is the only suggestions that I have. It has taken me over a year and a half to perfect my choices and I still enjoy trying new ones, I suggest you order sample or small order till you find a juice and a vendor that satisfys you. I know it's hard to decide but start with the top selling juice vendors and work your way thru, hopefully it won't take you long to find that perfect go-to juice!:vapor:
