verifying the type of alcohol for cleaning attys

Can someone just verify that its regular rubbing alcohol that people use to clean attys? I know there are many methods of cleaning attys, so I'm not looking for all the different methods, just hoping to verify that it's isopropyl alcohol ("rubbing alcohol") that is used by people who clean attys with alcohol.
Is that right? Thanks for answering. Happy vaping.

I use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol - I don't use the term "rubbing alcohol" since it can cause confusion: some products/formulations may contain oils or fragrances if they are used topically and people mistakenly call it "rubbing alcohol". Get the medical grade ISO stuff. Isopropanol. The ingredient list should be Isopropyl Alcohol, Water AND THAT'S IT.

ethanol (grain alcohol) is OK too.

From the wiki on this date/time:
The term "rubbing alcohol" has become a general non-specific term for either isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) or ethyl alcohol (ethanol) rubbing-alcohol products. The confusion comes from the greater popularity of isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and as a result, individuals requesting "rubbing alcohol" generally expect and get an isopropyl alcohol product.

Also, make sure you blow out the atty, and let it evaporate or dry-burn a bit.

I use 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean everything...including cartomizers. BUT! You must completely rinse out the isopropyl alcohol before using. I wouldn't suggest simply letting it evaporate (tried it). I bought a nice ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight a while back and use that for my final cleaning. Works awesome. And...all the jewelery in the house is shiny, as well as some of my tools, and some of my son's toys, and my grandmother's silver, and...and...and....

Ooh tell me more about the ultrasonic cleaner please. Do you need special cleaning liquid in it or just water? I guess I can use one for jewelery and watches.

I had boiled them before but the filler shrinks. So now I just soaked them in hot tap water and flush with syringe. There slight scent of previous juices in some of them.

"Rubbing alcohol" is commonly 60 to 70% isopropyl and contains other things to sooth the skin like aloe and sometimes menthol. Bottles marked Isopropyl Alcohol should also be marked 91% or higher and do not "usually" contain anything other than alcohol and water. Places like Walgreens and Rite Aid sell 99% iso alcohol and I'm sure other drug stores do too. That is what I would suggest if you can't find grain at a good price. I used 91% iso and have not had any issues with it.

I use Denatured Alcohol now. Works much better for me. Blow em out, rinse w/hot tap water (very easy) put them in a bowl, cover w/denatured, 60ml syringe, put through the atty 2-3 times (easy, easy), blow them out, let sit 15-20 min.and ready to go. This stuff dries like right away. Get the denatured that is labeled SLX or able to be used in Marine Stoves. This really takes out stubborn strong juices.
Can't get pure grain alcohol in Ohio

That stuff available in places like CVS?

No PGA in NY either but 160proof vodka works just about as good its what I use, and almost as cheap as Iso alcohol.

I use straight water (yes, did try soap once...yuck). I have the largest model they carry which also heats the tank. I think it's currently on sale for $69 bucks. Can't beat that for a good sized and rather powerful ultrasonic cleaner. The ultrasonic is awesome in that it breaks up some of the caking or build-up from some of the heavier juices.
