** Briar - Can you please take a pic of the one where you trimmed the wicks to get the flavor to intensify. I'm trying to visualize where you cut them from the description in your post, but my brain is failing :)

Yep. Gotta run now, but will do it in a couple of hours when I get back.

I'm using my VNs on ProVari....they screw down very close....with just a tiny space showing. Without the space, it would shut off the airflow.

In terms or progression, like most, I started with Boge or Smoketek cartos on a KGO. Like Briar, I quickly discovered that I really disliked the taste of the filler...Bad's analogy of dirty socks is pretty accurate in my opinion. I moved to Stardust, tried Phoenix and a couple other clearomizers. At this point, I'm pretty much using the VN (my V1 worked great, I just passed it on to my son in law when my V2.5s arrived), Stardust, 3ml Phoenix. Just ordered another V2.5 and some Scorpions.

In terms of hardware, I went from KGO to a LavaTube to ProVari. Sold the LavaTube as soon as I got the Provari, and just added a ProVari Mini. Just ordered a Rocket, but I suspect that will end up with my son-in-law too. He's in the process of trying to quit smoking, so I'm trying hard to encourage him. (He decided if I could quit smoking, probably anyone could...lol).

I will say this, not all filler cartos give the full wet sock taste but the majority of them do( for my taste buds) and in no way do i knock filler cartos its just until now i havent been happy with them for many reasons, people do like them and thats all cool and there are good ones are out there that have improved immensely but up till now i either get the sock taste or they need to be topped off to much combined with massive loss of flavor, tons of vapor but not much else, and some are a combo of sock and flat flavor and the topping off issues and many burn the filler or if not filled properly give you that nasty brunt taste that is hard to get rid of..

Im using a carto with partial filler and the way its designed , it works so much better and cleaner tasting and holds the flavor much better then normal fillers, we will be sharing this with everyone in the next week or 2

Let see, I started with corner store ecig carts and finding out on my own how to refill them. Moved up to a 510-t. Then all at once ordered the ego-c, ego-w, and ovale elips f6 from china. I had a bad experience with the ego-c at first but love it now. Its my go to unit when im out and about. I prefer tank systems, but also love clearomizers. The ego-w clearos in design are in theory identical to a vivi nova. I have tried resurrectors, boges, phoenix, and some other things. I started on cartos, and cant stand em now personally. I can tase the filler and I also agree on the dirty socks analogy.

Question for everyone. What were you vaping prior to ViVi Nova (any version). I am curious what progression of hardware different people used.

Sev

Funny you ask.
Ego C, Low Res atties in both "A" and "B" cone/tanks..couldn't stand them.
After that, Boge 2.0's usually in a "J" tank or in a cartomator.
Phoenix 1.5ml 2.4-2.6....Nirvana at the moment
Vivi 2.5 just ordered yesterday, should get Monday as I'm 20min from GV.

Can't wait to see if these Nova's perform better than Phoenix...(In my mind right now, dont think so)

I wouldn't say they are "better" than Phoenix....but to me, just as good and a whole lot more convenient.

Hey all,

A buddy of mine got the v2.5. He has about no air draw when using with his new Lava Tube (v2??). The one that now has ego and 510 threads on top. If he looses it enough to get flow, not enough threads catch to hold it tight. It's weird, because the design of the tube is actually more airy on other tanks, than standard PV. Not sure why it has gone the opposite way with the Nova. Has anyone seen this, and really looking for work around. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sev

P.S. It works on other batteries but Lava tube 1 is a little restricted and Lava 2 is very tight.

i have a v1 lt and the connector is restricted with almost everything. i just leave a modded ego adapter with thread cover permanently installed on the lt. solves any and all problems with connections and airflow :)

i think the dirty sock analogy is a bit of a stretch, but its somewhat expected when when you dont like them. like bad said, some are better some are worse and that includes filler-less cartos. many cartos are actually better compared to some filler-less. cartos are typically less to get dry hits and better anti-flooding concept. that being said, its good that there are options.

when a filler-less carto works the way it should, which doesnt happen too often, its better tasting than filler cartos. vapor wise a good carto ranks right up there with a good filler-less a least for me.

exactly melloyello, it really is about choice, some people prefer filler cartos, some people prefer dct tank styles, some people will go insane for our new carto and your right there are some decent ones out but the majority still lack in certain areas and of course the same could be said about filler-less, but flavor wise its hard to topa bottom coil or top coil filler less. The advancements also have improved greatly, bottom coils and top coils are now the norm and work rather well but each person needs to see what works for them, the pluses and minus's of what they are using , its also good to try different products and see what suits you as a individual.

people have different vaping styles. me for ex, i wont get a top coil carto of any kind anymore because without tilting, i will get dry hits...and i dont want to tilt. now, would it be a big deal to tilt? no it wouldnt...but its not my style so i will leave them be. i like just about anything horizontal and vertical, the optimum would be the horizontal due to the law of gravity. i have vaped over a year and the best vape ive gotten is from a phoenix xl BC. finicky with thick juices without modding but the thinner ones are real good. i believe that one day there will be a filler-less carto that always works out of the box and the center post can be slotted with different size holes or adjusted with a screw-on post to make it work with all viscosity juices. im going to get couple boxes of the xl bc tonight.

oh mellow, thats what im working on as we speak, that is the bionic phoenix program, its a while away but will feature full control for wicking, new wicking materials, fully rebuildable .

oh... it also uses a special base so it can go from thinner tank like a xl phoenix or switch to a 5ml tanks on the fly., all in the same unit.

I initially started with a PV back several years ago and was a bit disappointed with what I tried... I got a Blu kit along with 5 flavors to try out... re-ordered the menthol they had and just didn't end up being satisified with them at all. Volcano e-cigs also carried a compatible filler cart that worked so I got a batch of their menthol and it was a bit better but not by much. I tried about 10 different flavors overall and nothing suited my taste and none satisfied me in the least. I also found out quickly that I needed either a bunch of batteries or a mod with bigger batteries... I was only getting between 45 minutes to at most 1 1/2 hrs per charge and it took 3 hrs to recharge... so two batteries wasn't near enough. Since money was ( and still is ) tight, I decided to come back to e-cigs later after they advanced more.

Fast forward to February of this year... I decided to try it all out again and see if enough progress was made to finally allow me some satisfaction. I looked around to see what was being recommended... I knew I wanted a quality product that would have a good amount of battery capacity as well as something that would hold more juice than the Blu had. Everywhere seemed to suggest Joyetech eGo's ( and/or clones ) as the next step... I felt the 1000mah size would fit the bill pretty good and they had a tank system to boot. Ordered an Joyetech eGo-T and a sampler pack of 6 different menthols and a few spare tanks. This time... the e-juices flavors were satisfying my taste even if they weren't perfect and I found I could mix two of them to get almost what it was I was craving.

There were still some niggling bits that I wasn't completely happy with... but the mix of e-juice I was making worked fair and I had cut my 2+ PAD habit to less than half after just a week. The 1000mah battery would only get me at most about 6 hrs was one minor issue... another was that the vape was weak on 3.4v... and a 1+ ml tank wasn't enough for an 8+ hr day of work. I decided to try a different mod... the eGo wasn't too big but I did want more capacity so I knew I needed something that had a larger battery, so I went cheap and got a E-Power 14650. I also found an excellent e-juice vendor who used nothing but natural flavoring and suddenly my analog smoking got cut down to 1/8th of where it was to begin with.

The E-Power kit I got had two 3.5ml fiberfil cartos... filled one up and found it tasted like a sock ( at least it wasn't a dirty sock lol )... I liked the capacity but not the flavor... hearing good reports about boge's and Smoktek DTC's... I got a couple of DTC's. The carto's work... but they also clogged beyond after only a day or so which meant I lost whatever juice was in them at that time. I then picked up some of the larger Vision clearo's somewhere... and bam, the flavor just jumped out at me. The downside was that they were very prone to leak and I could be cleaning up messes at work all of the time findling with clearos, sort of defeats the purpose in many areas.

So about this time I started trying out clearo's from everywhere... I also knew I needed a good quality mod instead of the cheapy I got just to get me by. I sold my eGo to a neighbor that was interested... got a Legacy with a Kick module... and then about this same time found GotVapes ( this is back in March btw ) and saw what they were doing for the industry to help advance it. At this time I have yet to find a fiddle free clearo and was just using whatever new thing I could find... I orded the C8 Crypto from GV, it was a leaky sucker but looked great... I picked up a Stone v? from a local and liked it, but it leaked a bit and wasn't the best flavor... then GV mentioned the VN, the various Phoenix BC's etc... the Phoenix didn't work well for me and the VN v1 worked but had QC and flavor issues galore....

This now brings us to now... I got the VN v2.5 and have had great success so far. No leaks, no dry hits ( like I got with the Phoenix even on low power ) and the flavor even started off better than the Stardust's I'd picked up locally to try out.

So in just over a month from coming back to PV's... I've moved through 3 mod's to get one I really like and I can't even count the number of carto's and clearo's I've tried out... I got extremely luck on e-juice having found an awesome vender on my second try ( after a lot of research first I might add )... I am lucky that I had a ton of electrical experience which made learning about PV technology a breeze ... not that Ohm's law is tough but many do seem to be to scared to even attempt understanding the simple math it uses...

In a vaporizor ( carto, clearo or atty ) I look for a few things... It can't be fiddly and waste my time when I need to be working... in short it needs to have a good capacity so I don't need to carry supplies for all day if possible and it can't be prone to leaking... not to mention the most important part... it must have great flavor.

The PV also needs to not be fiddly and require constant recharging... so battery life needs to be 8+ hrs so I'm again not messing with it wasting precious work time. After work it doesn't matter since I can charge and change batteries whenever I wish.

I do still need to address one other minor thing... a small auto minicig that I can comfortably carry in my lips for times that I'm working on something and using a bigger mod is inconvenient. In otherwords, when I need to work with my hands. I've got a Joyetech 510 which almost fits the bill... but only if I bite on it instead of just hang it in my lips. I find that I'm not a biter... lol.

I absolutely agree bad and mellow..try a bunch of stuff and find your favorites..just keep a backup..one thing I've found out after trying many types of vapor delivery systems..never completely rely on your carto or tank to be always consistent and to work everyday..all the time. If you do..its bound to quit on you someday when you least suspect it..or break..or you'll drop it when riding your quad or tractor or whatever and run it over to boot..lol..or find out the next two weeks supply of cartos you got are from a bad batch or maybe try a new liquid and find out its a carto killer..the possibilities go on and on. When one of these happen ( not the dropping it or sitting on it ones ) to no fault of your own you'll often feel that anger rising inside of you and decide ECF needs to hear about how awful this or that is because now you have no tank or carto and need that throat hit and big cloud of vapor to calm you down.
So what I make sure of is to always..ALWAYS..have a atomizer that works for backup...just about every other order I place ill pick up a 5-7 dollar atomizer...they have come in handy so many times...so when your sitting there about to place your order for the next best thing or something you've never tried before but hear good things about..remember..experiences WILL vary and ..S*%$ HAPPENS..better throw an atomizer in that cart before your the next hot head on ECF yelling at anyone about anything because you need your ecig fix :p

On topic...So far I've been using this all day and some of yesterday and felt no need to switch to anything else. I did get a slight metallic taste at first that went away..same taste i get when breaking in homemade nichrome coils...also was having some gurgling issues..messing around with the metal and rubber caps seemed to help this. Hasn't been long enough to say much but I can say GotVapes and Vision definitely moved this thing in the right direction

I just got my vn 2.5 in today!! So far its working pretty good.. I got the 2.8 head on & it was reading 2.9 on provari... Loaded it with gv gummybear mmmmmmmmm good ;).. Its not flush with my provari but that is probably the way it should be with the airhole.. Its not to big of a gap... There is no wobble.. The rubber insert that was in the tip that it came with, I took it out & inserted it in my crome tip.. Made the draw better... Thanks to the poster that took pic of it cause I would not have known it was in there... I also tried that same crome tip on my bc phoenix & it sure improved the draw on that too...;) I also got the colored tanks... I really like the blue color..

It was me. Glad I got confirmation that it improved it for not just me.
