Hey thanks, that looks pretty solid - something I can clunk down on the counter. Don't care about looks this time, more concerned with solidity and it being something I can vape away on all day at home.

I actually got mine recently as a shipping mistake. I liked it so much, I didn't send it back. The long battery life and the general sturdiness and "hand feel" is what convinced me. I do have a ProVari which I use at home, but really like this one to take with me during the day. It gets thrown around the car, and stuck in my pocket and takes it well. When I do get home, I go back and forth between it and the ProVari. I like that it sits up and never falls over.

Can anyone show me a photo or describe how the Vivi fits on the Bolt and/or the new Ego mod?

Here's a pic on the ego-t mod with a 3.5ml DCT sleeve to cover the threads.

I will definitely be getting one of the colored tubes when they are available....like the blue. I have the red metal tube for the vivi nova tho....would be cool if the red tube matched it.

I like to use this cone it not only looks good but also it gives support to the tank. screw it on your PV then screw your tank on till it makes contact then screw the cone up to meet the tank

I also wanted to add regarding those cones, they aide in airflow which as you know effects the quality of the vapor production.

So I gave my VN 2.5 its first bath and dry burning, and now have my first dead coil as a result. No biggie since I've got enough spare heads to last me awhile, but wondering what I did wrong. I don't own an ultrasonic cleaner, and don't have any vodka or PGA or even white vinegar around at the moment -- I'm assuming beer, wine and/or balsamic would be just plain wrong for cleaning purposes heh heh. But the tank is dedicated to one juice so far, so I just gave all the pieces a good bath under hot running tap water. Shook everything out, patted the wicks dry with a paper towel, then left everything to air dry overnight.

When I got up this morning I did the dry burn. I gave it three bursts, 2-3 seconds each, with a few seconds rest in between. I could see the coil glowing on the second burst, and got a hint of a burnt smell on the third, so I stopped. Reassembled, refilled, and left sitting on it's side for about 40 minutes. The wicks looked well-saturated by then, so I gave it a try and I'm getting a very burnt flavor, beyond a dry hit type of burnt. This is with the 2.4 head, and I was running it at about 3.8-4.0 volts on a Twist. I tried tilting and swirling, also turned the voltage down to about 3.4 and the flavor was still very burnt.

So I assume I managed to kill the poor bugger? Prior to cleaning I'd used it sporadically for about a week or so, probably went through about 4 tanks. I'm using a thick and dark 60% VG juice, by the way, which I've read can shorten the life of a coil.

Any thoughts on where I went wrong?

Where do you get those? Do you know if they would work on a volt x2. The regular carto cones work on it
I got mine here. I dont know about the Volt. The page I just linked to has at least 3 different versions for diff size tanks. When I had my massive eGo collection I had a couple of each for each diff tank and let me tell you they make a big difference, cosmetically, and functionally.

If it still fires it can be brought back to new performance standards. I have been vaping for just over 5 months and I own at least 15 attys and I have only lost 1 and it wasn't due to dry burning. Also I use strictly dark tobacco flavors. There is a learning curve to dry burning. You want to rinse w water and dry out as much of the water b4 burning as possible, Then fire in short bursts, once it starts to get really hot let it sit for a few to cool. Sometimes it takes me a half hour of dry burning to bring an atty back, and thats after only like 1 week of vaping on it. I dont use anny solvents or cleaners, nothing but straight tap water. First blow the atty out thru the threaded end, always the threaded only as that is the flow of air during normal use. Then rinse under warm tap water, blow again. Then start the dry burning. Eventually the goal is for the coil to turn white, and to be able to see all the wraps of the coil. If after burning for say 10 mins and your still not getting an orange glow, run it under the water again (after it cools). Blow again and start to burn again. If your carefull w burning you will never blow a coil, the worst thats going to happen is its going to take twice as long. Eventually you will get the feel for how long to apply current w/o doing damage. Thats the key, get it as hot as possible w/o over doing it and popping it. So basically rinse and repeat as many times as necessary until you have a nice red glowing coil, that turns whiteish when it cools off.

After dry burning I often get a burnt taste for a bit. Rinsing afterwards seems to remove it mostly, but eventually that burnt taste does go away. Horrible, but I usually only dry burn after 4-5 tank fulls. In the process I do remove the darkened juice after one refill. Not sure why I do that, just always have.

I am not overly careful when dry burning. I turn it down to 3.3v Rinse under water, dab wicks to get most of the water. Hold on for 10-20 sec to burn off the water may pulse like this for a couple times until the coil starts to glow. Then I give it 5-10 sec burns until there is no sound or smoke steam what have you coming from the coil. Blow off the dry gunk. The coil shouldn't have anything left on it. The wick in the coil should be mostly white. I have only lost 5 or so coils during burning in 3 years. As long as you are using a low voltage give it hell. If there is any sound or smoke coming off the coil it isn't clean enough so keep going. should look close to new apart from some discoloration on either side of the coil.

I always give mine another rinse, swish after dry burning to get rid of anything I just burnt off. Don't know if that's the answer, but worth a try.

I got the impression somewhere that it should be very dry, as in letting it sit for hours after rinsing, before doing a dry burn. But it sounds like that's not necessarily the case -- it's ok to just give it a good blow, then burn?

And if I'm getting a burnt smell while dry burning (as I did), then I should rinse again and keep going? Versus the burning smell meaning I've already gone to far?

Thanks to both of ya for your help!

I burn right after rinsing, just make sure to blow out good and def no water anywhere near batt connection. If your getting yucky smell that means your not done and there is still crap burning away. So smell and smoke means keep going.

I guess I've been way too wussy with the process the few times I've tried it. I understand what I'm trying to accomplish and how to do it much better now courtesy of you-all's explanations...thanks!
