Very tight draw and barely any vapor with IKV 306 LR

I just received a 5 pack of Ikenvape 306 LRs and screwed one onto my REO Mini with an AW 14500 IMR battery. I primed it as directed (7 drops, wait for it to soak in, 2 quick fires and two more drops). I'm using a fairly thin 100% VG liquid.

The draw is incredibly tight. It's like a thick milkshake. I'm also getting very little vapor production. Am I missing something? I know an atty needs time to break in but how long should I expect this to take?

It seems like with the 306 pulling out the wicking fibers is the solution to a lot of problems. You should give that a shot, it should make a difference.

I actually dewicked it before I primed it but forgot to mention that. I've had other 306s that got a scorched flavor after a day and it was fixed by removing the wick. Since I always drip or bottom feed, I figured I'll dewick it before it gets gunked up.

If that does not help you might want to try using a 510-510 connector or any other adaptor that might allow more airflow.

I took the whole atty/drip tip off the PV and tried to draw air through i but it was still tight compared to my other 306 (a Joye 1.5).

The tight draw wouldn't be such an issue if I was getting more vapor. The Joye 1.5 practically fills my mouth with vapor on it's own. I barely have to draw on that one.

I'm just a little shocked since people rave about these things so much. Is the first one I tried a dud? Do I chance defiling a second one or cut my losses right away and try something else?

Maybe I flooded it and it clogged up. I don't think I filled it anymore than I do my Joye 306 and that one will just vaporize the excess in a few draws. The Iken just kind of sputters until it's nearly dry and as soon as it feels like the draw is right and I'm getting a decent amount of favor, it turns out to be a dry hit.

I had similar issues with the two IKV LR 306s I tried: tight draw, very little vapor. Tried them on eGos. Tried them on BB, VP2; changed batteries, checked batteries (4.2V). Tried them on a Buzz at 4.5V, only slight increase in vapor production. Gave up.

Yeah, I'm coming to that conclusion unless someone comes up with a special incantation that will make this thing work for me like everybody says it works for them. What have you found that works for you? This quest for an atomizer that doesn't suck is getting expensive.

I would try (for the sake of troubleshooting) pulling the center pin out with a tiny flat head/paperclip/etc just a little bit. Less than 1mm - then double check the breather holes on each side of the atomizer (visually or with a pin/needle). If they are clear of any obstructions, pop a drip tip on the atomizer, hold it in your hand and cover the positive post (flat part at the bottom) with your finger and draw through it. Should be relatively smooth/easy draw.

I pulled out the center pin a tiny bit (1/16" or so) and checked the side breather holes with a paperclip. No obstructions. Also measured the resistance at 2.3 Ohms for what it's worth.

I blew out all the juice and compared the draw compared to my Joye 306 with just drip tips on the atomizers (same style drip tip and no battery). I'd say the Joye has a good 80-90% more airflow.

I occasionally pop the IKV on a battery and try to get it working and it just won't break in. Really weak vapor and no airflow. All it does is get crazy hot after a few attempts to get a good hit.

I would try to inspect the coils, make sure that they aren't fused together. I had one LR branded 306 that was actually a HR atomizer. Have you dewicked this atomizer already?

The coils look good and clean and I suspect that if some of them were fused together, the resistance would be under 2 Ohms. I measured it to be 2.3. I did dewick it before I primed it.

The Iken 306s aren't posted properly. I contacted Isaac about his 306s not fitting on my Q2v3 he talked to his manufacturer and the next batch should be on point.

True, but this thread is for a different scenario. Even off of the battery the draw is extremely tight compared to other atomizers.

I had this on a different manufacturers 306 atty... turned out there was adhesive that got in the breather hole in the ceramic cup. I don't know if that's what's happening here.
