I just read somewhere that VG turns into glucose in your body, and that some diabetics have to be careful about using it. Though I'm not diabetic, I am doing a low-carb way of eating, and I've recently started vaping 100% VG. Does anyone know if raising glucose levels can hinder weight loss? I'm 4 months into this low-carb thing, and I'd hate to jeopardize it now.

By the way, I'm aware that the VG doesn't have calories, per se, but wondering whether it can have other adverse effects on weight loss.

Well...I'm type 1 diabetic and vape 80/20 (pg/vv) and find that vaping has no adverse effect on my glucose levels. I'm not on a low carb diet, but my whole life is about counting carbs. I was counting carbs long before it became "trendy".

I realize that in no way answered your question in any way. Sorry. I'll just say "hi".

The primary effect a PV has on weight loss is difficulty maintaining it due to the newly active tastebuds .. otherwise, I don't think you'll have a problem ..

Low carb diets depend on a state called Ketosis, this is the state of the body where it burns fat cells instead of carbs.
I doubt you will get knocked out of this state by the small abount VG that will actually enter the blood stream.

I would suggest going to a pharmacy and getting a bottle of "Keto-sticks" a simple urine test to moniter level of Ketosis in your body. About 7 dollers for 100 strips. For some reason, they keep these things behind the counter.

As you aren't ingesting the VG and in truth the quantity of VG is so tiny per day (5mls is a teaspoons worth); I really can't see it being an issue.

I'm mostly Paleo-Zone + Dairy, which isn't what I would call Carb low, but it is a carb restricted diet in as much as I have to ensure my carbs match my proteins and fats and I've not noticed a problem, I'm not at the moment actively trying to lose weight though and chose it only as an eating style that happens to suit me on a day to day. That being said I'm not "cheating" much at the minute and I've managed to drop 4lbs this week, and I've been vaping up a storm with primarily VG mixes ;)

Thanks, Hawkizefan, Uncle Willie, Alac, and TarMc, for your answers to my questions. Based on what you've each said, I won't concern myself over the relatively small levels of glucose I'm vaping. TaraMc, I've been watching my carb intake for several months, and seem to have leveled on the weight loss. I enjoy this way of eating, though, and thankfully, don't have much more to lose, so I'm just taking it as it comes. Thanks again!
