I tried to search for this but didn't have much luck so please feel free to link me to any relevant threads.

I have some questions about VG vs PG and how the mixing ratios effect the vaping experience.

I was thinking about going 20PG/80VG. The main reason for this is because I'm getting a bit of a cough when vaping my current juice (I have no idea the ratio though). I have heard that this can be caused by a heavy PG mix. Is this true?

Also, would that 20/80 ratio be too thick for a EVOD/ProTank or a Stardust?

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance. :2cool:

There is really no right answer to this. Unfortunately you have to experiment and see what works best for you.

I myself can't vape high VG. It's thick and gives me a very heavy feeling in my chest. Others vape all VG so you never know.

I usually vape 80pg/20vg or 70pg/20vg. It's thin enough that it doesn't clog whatever I'm using and get a good vape. I don't like plumes of vapor in case I want to stealth vape.

If it seems harsh to you, try higher VG and see if it helps. Chose a supplier that lets you select the ratio and order a couple small bottles of different ratios and see what works best for you.

Anything more then 50% VG will wick in an Evod or Pro Tank, just not very well.

I suggest you try a 50/50 eliquid.....or more PG. I think 60 Pg/40vg is a perfect blend of taste, vapor and wicking ability. It does all 3 well and still has some Throat Hit.

Certain flavorings can hit harder when mixed into liquid nicotine too, cinnamon is one.

Thanks for the reply! You're right, I should just try some from different levels. Is there a vendor you'd recommend? I was going to use Mt Baker

Does a lower nicotine level help reduce the throat hit? I'm vaping 18mg right now only because that is what my fiance likes. I was thinking of getting 6mg and 12mg to try.

PG + nicotine strength are the two variables that influence throat hit the most.

If 18 mg is a bit much either lower the PG% in your eliquid or the nicotine strength (MG)

If you lower BOTH pg% + mg STRENGTH at once you won't be satisfied either.

So, either change your PG to VG ratio to higher PG% or SLIGHTLY lower the nicotine MG strength (like 18 mg at home now to 15 mg or 12)

The only tanks I use are DCT's, EVOD, and MT3. I am leaning away from the DCT just because those BCC's are so good. I've run 100% VG in EVODs. My normal is PG40/VG60 and PG30/VG70. I have no issues out of BCCs period with those blends. I use 2ohm or 2.2ohm on an EGO-C Upgrade 1000mah pass-throughs and EGO pass-throughs. If it's not a BCC I've gotten to where I won't buy it.

-Never tried Mt Baker so I can't say.

You could try adding a drop or two of VG to your existing liquid. It'll increase the VG ratio and decrease nicotine. Not too much though or it'll reduce flavor. But a couple drops won't hurt. It'll give you an idea of what increased VG is like.

What's a BCC?

Great advice! I'm going to order a few bottles at different Ratio's and Nic levels!! This hobby is dangerous lol

i lower my pg and my nic and the TH went away completely. Bad move on my part. I will be upping my pg on the next ordr. I have ordered from MT Baker. Not bad juices by any means and a decent place to start at least for me.

For me 50 50 usually is the best. I went on a crazy rant about pg vg ratio here. But 50 50 is a safe bet usually.

Thanks for the link!

I Always use a 40/60 12mg In my opinion it gives a smoother vape. But everyone is different and you just need to play with it. You;ll figure out what you like in no time. If possible assuming you have an all day vape. Get small bottles of it in diferent ratios. That might help.

40pg/60vg? (Is that how it's usually written pg/vg?) I don't have an all day vape yet either, so far I have only had two flavors. Razzleberry and Kiwi Strawberry, both from a store I have no access to anymore.

The first number in the equation is PG level, the second is VG

so 40/60 is 40% pg/ 60% vg

Thick VG juices are best in RBAS, RDA's, and for use with Genesis Atomizers....it burns + wicks slower, it will taste smoother but lack a throat hit.

If you want a balance of throat hit and a smooth vape 60/40 or 50/50 are likely better.....

60/40 for me is perfect....great taste, plenty of vapor, wicks great in any clearizer, tank, cartomizer, rba, rda

Try a few different ratios out and see what YOU like.
