VG vs. PG and the effect they have.

I have had vapors tongue for a couple days now it's real annoying. Matter of fact I have avoided vaping as much as I can to hopefully help also tried other things I have read to bring the taste back to my life. So all this really has me wondering is there any difference between using higher PG or VG juices that may make this show up less in some people. I can't imagine everyone who vapes going thru this every so often. It's really annoying my tongue has a diminished sense of taste and slight burnt feel to it.

So IYO what works best to stave off vapers tongue? If you are someone that's never had it I would love to know your secret!

You grow new buds every ten days. And not all are created at the same time so that means you'll get at least one new one or group of them every day. The main way to avoid vaper's tongue is to vary your juice throughout the day. Different buds taste different flavors so the goal is to not wear out or send one whole set into shock. For instance, I rotate tobacco, a single sweet bakery and a single fruit all day. I prefer tobacco and just do the bakery and fruit to avoid VT.

I had vapers tongue two weeks after starting ecigs. It was horrible and I thought I would go back to analogs. I tried most of the suggestions but not much help. Then I got some real strong ejuce flavors, latte with super strong coffee flavor and a cigar flavor that I mixed with a few drops of the latte to cut the cigar flavor a little. Anyway, switching flavors helped me thru it. I had about 4 flavors to rotate and when one started to diminish, I switched. There were times when I could taste only certain components of each. Ex: banana nut bread, sometimes could only taste banana, sometimes could only taste sweet mostly, at times I could taste only banana and no sweet. It was suggested to try a mint juice but I always hated the taste in analogs so I didn't try those. The worst part of my vapers tongue lasted two days before I realized I might be able to switch flavor to survive it. I do not currently have this malady but notice my flavors will start to lose taste during the day....that's when it's time to change to another flavor

Whoa there - tastebuds on the tongue can discern only the basic tastes ( salty, sour, sweet, bitter and umami - whatever that is ). Chewing or swallowing also 'pumps' up some flavour laden air into the nasal cavities, where your sense of smell is located. And that's where most of the actual 'tasting' takes really place. Don't believe me ? Then why we tell little children to pinch their nose shut when it comes to swallowing some foul tasting medicine? Same thing when suffering from a bad cold - everything tastes pretty bland then, because your nose is all clogged up and cannot contribute it's input to the flavour experience..

VG is a lousy solvent for most flavours - PG is much better and is used specifically for that purpose by the food processing industry - flavour carrier. Water is a good solvent for some flavours, or even ethanol. Beyond that there's more solvents, many of them are known for their clearomizer-busting properties...

After mucking up your tongue and nasal cavaties with tar condensates and lots of other unsavoury chemicals it's very likely that your body utilizes the 'ceasefire' to chuck some of that accumulated gunk... None too pleasant, but if you view it as a kind cleansing ritual - a rite of passage from smoker to vaper or non-smoker to vaper. That's all it takes to get accepted in this 'ere global gang o' vapers :) ...
Beats stealing an old lady's purse or something worse as initiation rite for street gang by leagues :toast:

Mix up your flavors throughout the day and drink more water. Also, one of the things I have found very helpful when my taste buds get a little muted is to have a couple of salted crackers or potato chips. I think the salt helps wake up the taste buds. I don't know if this would work for everyone because I don't use a lot of salt in my cooking nor do I eat processed foods very often. You can also try Biotene.

When you first start vaping your body begins to heal the damage done from smoking, depending on how long and how much you smoked some people will experience some of the vapor related symptoms more then others. VT freaked me out when it happend in the beginning, thought maybe my vendor had sent unflavored juice by accident. it happens to the majority and it will pass.

it is not something that will be avoided by stopping and it is not a constant recurring thing either. it usually hits somewhere when starting out and passes in time, when that time comes and it does pass it seems like your sensory organs kick into overdrive, suddenly everything tastes better or stronger, and your sense of smell can pick up everything.

My sense of smell for bad odors is incredible and annoying. My car smells really bad. Hubby has just been banned from smoking in it cuz I'm not gonna clean it just so he can stink it up all over again. Not dissing him cuz he still smokes , I don't wanna become a righteous non smoker, but the cig smell is horrible to me now. I always thought it was nasty odor but it didn't bother me like it does now

I wouldn't be so bothered by the vapers tongue deal if it didn't also feel like I was setting my tongue on fire. If I vape at all the burning sensation returns and I have tried lowering the voltage to produce a cooler vapor and other ideas I could think of. Taking short vapes at a time etc. Still same result in a few moments my tongue is burning again.

I have been drinking enough water to drown a fish. I have had no less than a gallon of water a day since I have started vaping and really I can't keep up. I have to use the bathroom so often people are probably starting to wonder lol.

When I started vaping I didn't have any trouble with my sense of taste other than some bitterness in the juice I was using. Switched to some 50/50 juices and the bitterness almost went completely away. I figured that should be good enough and I would get use to it in time. Now fast forward and I have almost completely lost the sense of taste and switching juices was only slightly better and the difference was terrible cause I must have fried some of the receptors for a particular range of taste making the other flavor taste like crap.

Also I have heard Vanilla flavors (that's the flavor I lost my taste on) have the reputation of wrecking taste buds? I dunno know if that is true but I need to try something else soon. I placed an order today but I have no idea how fast my juices from AVE Juice will arrive. I ordered up three that were each very different to hopefully find some way to stave this off in the future.
