A very informative video. If we could get this type of info out to the puplic on a larger scale, that would be great. It would be nice if someone like Dr. Phil could do a show on the e-cig. One thing he always says is, you don't eliminate a habit, you replace it with something else that's better for you.

Wouldn't it be something if at the end of the flu season, they would do a survey and find out that everyone who vaped didn't get the flu.

So in other words, if you were to invent an alternative to cancer sticks that have the opposite effects of killing you, you may want to work a vapor that sterilizes the environment around you and those close to you.
In other other words not only is it not bad for you, it kills off diseases before you ever get a chance to get infected.
AM I missing something?

First let me say I really like Shawn’s videos. His first couple of videos helped me decide to switch to electronic cigs. Secondly, I would be remised if I didn’t say that this study done in 1942 is a good indicator that PG is safe when inhaled, however further and more importantly newer studies need to be done.

I could see them giving everyone the non-nicotine e-cigs instead of flu shots. Wouldn't that be great!

Don't forget, companies like Vicks have been around a long time supporting
the health benefits of using their vaporizers. Not to mention, look at how
long folks have been going to steam baths. The only leg to stand on for
groups fighting E-cigs is the specific chemicals used in the juice- which is
why the FDA put out that bogus report on a "chemical found in anti-freeze".
They aren't saying that vaping is detrimental to your health.

Ok testing methods have drastically changed since 1942. I think if we where to do a comparison between today and 1942, it would be like night and day. The FDAs Report makes mention to diethylene glycol which is a "chemical found in anti-freeze", not to mention that PG is also found in less-toxic anti-freeze. On that note, their study of the samples they had I think was done properly and accurately. I don’t like the manor in which they released this information or the position they have taken against e-cigs, but I can’t completely fault the FDA either. One good point they make is that there is a lack of quality assurance in the samples they tested. I think any truly independent testing would find the same results of the same test samples. Lastly, the FDA is NOT saying that vaping is bad for your health. The FDA is saying it has not been properly tested and reviewed by the FDA.

FDA News Release Quote:

“The FDA is concerned about the safety of these products and how they are marketed to the public,” said Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D., commissioner of food and drugs.

Because these products have not been submitted to the FDA for evaluation or approval, at this time the agency has no way of knowing, except for the limited testing it has performed, the levels of nicotine or the amounts or kinds of other chemicals that the various brands of these products deliver to the user.

With all that being said, I have been an e-cig user for about two months now and I do not plan to go back to cigarettes. Although I know that e-cigs are not perfectly healthy for me, I also know they are healthier than tobacco.

I agree.

And I would like to see a series of updated tests, specifically with today's version of PV liquids.

I'm not kidding myself into believing I'm now doing something "healthy" by vaping.

Granted, I think it's healthier than analogs, but that is just a wishful hunch on my part and nothing more.

Without fully documented and controlled testing by multiple labs from multiple institutions, it's all biased conjecture. Vaping may be proven to be non-harmful (when compared to other bad habits) and that would be awesome.

But as it stands now I consider it almost as risky as smoking.
