Video Recordings, what do you use?

I have a webcam, and I want to make a video recording (windows 7 32 bit), what is the best (FREE hopefully) software to use?

webcam should come with some sort of a recording program... editing I use adobe.

The problem is the software that comes with this line of laptops does not work in windows 7.

What brand do you use? If they've started packing windows7 with your brand, then they have to make the webcam compatible. Have you checked the manufacturer website to see if there's been a driver update?

I have the driver, but the hp db9000 does not have updated software or drivers for most everything. The webcam works fine, I have used a problem to record off of it, but that problem seems to crash everytime I try to record to avi (divx).
