see i mentioned this earlier in another thread....they with held information....there needs to be something done about this. It's a long overdue response but it definitely nipped the situation in the bud. I only wish he could convey this point directly to the FDA board. Youtube is an effective way to get the word out to the public interested in the matter, but it's not necessarily shedding light on the matter to the masses, only those who happen to come across the video.
What else is on the ECA's agenda? Any media spots? Anything at all?
That is by far the best response I have seen yet.

Sorry Lacey but wheres the beef.
Nothing in that response would convince anyone that is already questioning the safety of e-cigs. That facts are that these devices do not neatly fit into either the smoking cessation or Tobacco device categories. They are sort of a bridge between both. trying to shoe horn them into one alone is futile. What we need to do is simply show/prove the health benefits vs risk and get them to agree to a fast track approval process while allowing them to be sold with some sort of warnings until completed. There is no way they are going to just let them continue unregulated, the cat is out of the bag and honestly I don't think in th interest of public safety they should.
Please, I beg of the ECA grow some testicles and come out swinging with facts and stop dancing around like this is going to somehow go away without a fight. We need to counter every press release and news article with a consise and vehement responce not some "oh cant we all just get along' lame answer!![]()
Suppliers pay a lot of money to become a part of this association and all I see are constant let downs in the fight.
I've been saying this since I first started on this board. It's basically the same thing as their written rebuttal they issued last week. It does nothing to address the issues at hand but dances around. It sidesteps the toxicology And tries to turn the focus. Where is the quality responses that those who donated deserve? Suppliers pay a lot of money to become a part of this association and all I see are constant let downs in the fight. Now either I'm just not seeing something correctly, but the members of this forum seem to have more intelligence about what needs to be addressed a lot better then that of the ECA. Makes me wonder if we shouldn't just have the members of this forum form an association or organization and get it right the first time.
I guess that's what happens when you put your trust in an organizations whose first statements to everyone is give us money. We all know that the organization needs money. But it honestly to me reminds me of your local strip joints where strippers are literally begging for you dollar. Then they say it's all voluntary you don't have to donate. Guess what it's the same thing a stripper does. Begs you for your dollar but it's completely voluntary if you want to give it.
Like Hoping said grow some balls and put out some real statements that will actually do something instead of pulling a Rodney King and spout off can't we just all get along. It's garbage it's trash.
I figured I would give the ECA another chance after the whole issued statement fiasco. And yes it was a fiasco. And now they give us this. A video version of that crap they called a response to the FDA. Gimme a break.
ECA Members | Electronic Cigarette Association
These are the current members of the ECA who have been Approved. That means, all of their marketing material has been reviewed and has been found to fall in line with the rules of the ECA.
There are currently about 10 other suppliers who are in the process of approval and only two of them participate on THIS FORUM.
At this particular moment no one really cares about following the rules of marketing. They are more concerned about this scare tactic that the FDA is trying to pull.
Eric-
Please, by all means contact the media! Do what needs to be done. If you don't have the time and the funds to do so, help the ECA out by submitting an application! Or is it easier to subject the ECA to bashing to deflect the fact that you aren't helping?
Lvl-
Actually, the FDA's scare tactics revolved 100% around marketing to children. Their announcement was mostly focused on the fact that these are easily accessible to children. The science of their findings is being addressed, by the health community that we have on our side. The ECA is doing everything they can.
Are you kidding me? They follow the rules for marketing and such? While that's all fine and dandy, like Hoping said where's the beef? At this particular moment no one really cares about following the rules of marketing. They are more concerned about this scare tactic that the FDA is trying to pull. Where's the work that the ECA should be putting in to relieve the tensions of those out there who are now fearful of the e-cigarette because of this report? Do you think those people care about advertising? The answer to that is a resounding NO. I think the ECA should come back when they can finally provide real statements and real arguments instead of constantly spouting off about advertising. People want answers to the FDA, antifreeze in the juice arguments. Not the whole oh we don't sell to kids, we look for regulation that's constantly being spit out and dancing around the whole subject. I don't know about others but this is a real concern to me. It shows a lack of effort and that the ECA really doesn't know what they are doing. Maybe you should hire a PR firm to start doing the statements and such because the ECA is failing in this department.
While a video is nice, has this been sent to the news outlets like CNN or Fox?
Or a written response to the news wires through a business wire account etc.?
This needs more exposure..
What these people who are posting these YOUTUBE video's need to start doing, is in the description on the right hand side where they explain there video (Not the above description), put in POPULAR names of people, events, places, top-searched products, so that when anyone searches for these things/people/products there video pops up in the crowd!
The search engine on YouTube works off of whatever you put in the description located on the right side of the screen, not only the titled description. You guys that just put "e-cig, this is how yadayadayada"" in your descriptions your gonna keep getting only 500 views per month, and most of them will be from us, the people that know about these things already!
Do what I said and watch how the views GROW!!!
