Vinci or x coil

Is there a good way to change out a coil while the pod is full? I did it but was a bit messy. Primed the new coil first then switched them quickly. Still juice seemed or appeared to run out the mouthpiece a bit. Guess this is normal?

When a coil dies in my Vinci Pod that is full I hold the pod upside down over a juice bottle, pull out spent coil and most of the juice drains back into the bottle
