Anyone use vinegar to clean copper contacts? I tried it on mine, quick 3 minute soak and the contacts were pretty shiny afterwards. My mech hits like a mule now. I wonder if there will be negative long term effects on the threading of the copper pins on my device. Vinegar is an acid afterall.

Maybe I should just rub the vinegar on the contact surfaces instead of fully submerging the pins?

Thanks!

Thanks Susan! I guess I'm safe for now. :)

@Raycecar vinegar (with a little salt) has been used by many to clean copper products for a while now. I don't use salt on my pins though since I find the vinegar to do a good enough job. Some people also use ketchup! :D It's easy since there won't be a need to rub it in, soaking is more than enough. You'll need to rinse them well after though to get all the vinegar out.

word of caution, i used vinegar to clean my provari once and it threw multiple error codes
that went away after using alcohol 99%.
Was this with distilled white vinegar?

If there is NO circuit board attached distilled white vinegar works great on copper contacts, but recommend flushing with at least distilled water, PGA (Pure Grain Alcohol) or if money is no object: UPW (Ultra Pure Water) and blow dry.

With that said, most high quality circuit boards and attached electronics are washed with UPW, but with cheap e-cig and consumer electronic controllers rice patty water might not be too far from the truth :)
Well, OK... rice patty water would smell funny... ;)

vinegar is a mild acid

Want a quick way to eat cold bluing off of a firearm! White vinegar will strip it in MINUTES! It will however cause rapid "oxidation" which is surface rust that immediately follows...surface rust = resistance
