Attorney General Cuccinelli issues official opinion on E-cigarette
The Mechanicsville Local - news

One of the comments to the article:

You’ve got to be kidding me! Once again the idiot Republicans are backing the industry instead of the health of their constituency. Obviously, any product that emits harmful emissions in such closed and common areas such as restaurants, bars, etc (that were just made illegal in this backwards state by the way) should be outlawed in those areas (the health of the majority should prevail). Allowing the e-cig to be used in such common areas is assinine and should not be allowed.

When the heck is Virginia going to wake up and protect the health of its’ citizens instead of looking out for big business?

My one warning would be that vapers should not rush into every restaurant in the state and pull out their e-cig. We need to approach this carefully, with as much public education as possible, so nonsmokers realize what the e cig is and that it is not producing secondhand smoke.

You're right, but they'll do it anyway... probably blow it in someone's face too.

awesome job in Virginia. Thing is, restaurants can still refuse service or tell you to put it away etc. and I can see that happening. PLaces with bars may actually promote them and be vapor friendly, others will freak out on you. I may have to carry the new DH guidance with me and a copy of the webpage. Being in Va, I am waiting to see how much of the local news picks up on this.

Hey maybe Virginians should print up a bunch of those Personal Vapors decals someone posted on here several weeks ago - I really like them and have been using them decal.AAA.jpg

Way to go, KitKat. Our first tangible success from the ruling. I hope everyone is as polite as you obviously were.

I think the decals are a good idea, so long as it's obvious what it is referring to. A lot of people have never heard of e cigs, let alone seen one. That's why it is so important to be cautious in using them; the last thing a restaurant owner wants is other customers freaking out because they think someone is smoking. That's a sure way to kill our welcome.

Great news! Got a call from a reporter at Channel 8 TV News in Richmond. He is on his way right now to interview Storyspnr. Details at 6 and 11 (we hope).

That is Excellent news!!! I cannot wait to read the transcripts from the interview. I still can't express the emotion I felt when I read the reasoned, fair, and courageous comments and ultimate decision from Virginia's Delegate and Attorney General. There truly still is Hope in all this madness and it is heartening to know we still have "authentic leaders" who act in behalf of the People and who sincerely interpret the law and not "bend and twist it" to their own personal gains.
