eta: she brought me a pack of butts to try to get me to quit vaping and back to smoking, she offers me cigarettes all the time, no matter how many times I tell her no, I quit XX months/years ago.. I do hold some contempt for the woman, as much as I love her.

My lady's family lost a really great man in a car accident tonight. She was really close to him growing up.

i thought my mom would be incredibly proud that i quit smoking after 35+ years. when i told her i hadn't even had a drag in 3 and a half months and had started vaping, the first thing out of her mouth was "that's worse than smoking!" moms i feel your pain, solace.

I got that in spades when I posted about it on Facebook. I demanded proof and they all came back with was lame bad reporting news stories. I came back with recent actual scientific studies and that shut them up till a week or so passed and I got tons of PMs wanting to know more for family members.

I divorced myself from my mom and dad. Long story short they stole my identity to open $60k worth of credit cards in my name and put me through hell including turning them into the police and the last communication I had from them is they did this because it was allllll my fault. Yeah...

Megan,

Although our stories are a little similar, they are different. I divorced my parents 12 years ago. All I have is Ray, my kids, and my friends, and I am okay with that. My friends and I are extremely loyal to each other, so they really are my family.

It sucks, though because a little of me still loves them. But too much damage has been done and that bridge has been burnt for a long time now.

That seems pretty messed up. I'm sorry for you maam. I don't understand how someone could do that, let alone your parents. Again, I'm sorry. You shouldn't have to go yhroguh that.

Thanks guys, I'm still angry and hurt by it but I made peace with it. I have a pile of stuff they did to me over the years to sort through still but with my health it all seems so insignificant to be honest. I have plenty of "family" (meaning those I've chosen to be in my family versus the real thing...) that surround me and they are all wonderful.

Family is who we choose...
