I ordered two of these to try out. I gave one to a friend and enjoyed mine for a few days until I got bold and stepped up my voltage to 6.0. I expected that the unit could handle that power level but was very wrong. POP went the coil.

Maybe it was just a bad unit.

I'm hoping my friend will have more luck. This design seemed very very exciting. And unfortunately, now OUT OF STOCK.

Time to move on I suppose.

If resupply ever arrives I will give this another go.

The ones I got were supposed to be >2.0 oHm, none metered 1.9 oHm even. On an RIVA batt they last quit long. The LR's are a coming in soon, I would think 3.7v would be plenty for them. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

I happen to notice on several other sites that were selling the Stardust they listed them as 2.0 which I believe was a mistake.

A dual coil at 2 ohm is a totally different animal than a 2-3 ohm clearo. A a 1.5 ohm dual coil is 2 -3.2 ohm coils in parallel so a 2ohm dual has 2 coils of a even higher resitance in parallel which is why duals work at such a wide voltage range. Even a single coil 1.7 ohm smoketek can be pushed to the mid 4's volt wise.

Most CE2 style carto's are gonna run a range of 3.4-4v depending with the exception of the new 4ohm that they started selling on its own that forst came with the gripper. You can get a 3 ohm CE2 depending on the model to vape in the high 4's but your gonna eventually run into a situation where your burning more juice that the wick can reabsorb and it turns into a delicate balancing act. I vape my 2.9 stardusts at around 4-4.2 but at 4.2 it just pulls the juice to fast from the wick unless you keep them totally covered in juice.

You really need to take dual coils of any ohm and put them in their own category when talking or comparing ohm values. For that matter you really need to seperate standard steel cartos, CE2 style and attys. I mean I can understand why you thought what you did so I am not knocking you for it but your dealing with very different and there are not many if any "one size fits all voltage" carto.

It's not that I don't understand. I understand too much. Separating the different types is not the answer either. All a atty, poly fill carto, ce2, etc is a heater and "pump" system, just like any other system. If the heat source is greater than the capability of the "pump" to deliver its fluid, it burns. That was why I was asking about dual coil visions. I like to vape at 8 to 10 w. At 5v, that is about 2.5 ohms to 3.1 ohms.

With dual coils, u get 1/2 the heat output per coil (assuming each coil is same ohm rating). If each individual coil is pulling inside the wicking material s "pump" limit, you won't get a dry hit.

This is why I am asking about dual coil visions.

Dougers the term "ego" does not necessarily mean voltage range, but could mean form factor. Thus my question about voltage.
