The family and I are taking a camping trip to Cumberland Island later this month! WAY south GA.

I am so excited. I have never camped as primitively as we will be here. I have stayed several nights at national wilderness areas, but the car was never unreachable. This place is only reachable by boat, and there is a ferry that comes twice per day.

There are wild horses and horseshoe crabs the size of trash can lids!

Have any of you been camping there?

Oh yes, my mom and I hiked all over the island. Horses, raccoons, deer, boar, armadillo, alligators, and ghost. No joke
You'll have to hike all your gear about a mile into the camp site from the ferry. There is no store at all on the island, make sure you have everything you need before the boat takes you. One of my favorite things to do there was search for sharks teeth on the beach. There are so many of them around the private dock about 1 mile from main dock. I believe its called greene somthing.
