I'm digging the Nextel in there. I'm thinking I may need to give that a go myself. Is there any way to keep it from fraying apart once it's cut?

Try a few wraps of plumbers tape before cutting. Cut straight through the tape. Haven't tried with Nextel due to the top-secret US-only nature of this beast.

I wasn't really expecting it that soon; but I do think this vivi business was a result of sheer anticipation. A little swag of ss mesh makes a great cuff. The nextel always opens up about a half inch, and no more (unless forced). So, even after cutting it, I sometimes wrap a short piece of mesh on it, then slide the cuff out to the end. For this project, I just tied a little piece of sewing thread around each end, then snipped it off after assembly and coiling. The braid is holding fine.

MORE IMPORTANTLY THO, I'm getting an off flavor this am. I suspect the auto-electrical connector's composition. Not gonna vape it more until I figure out what that's made of, or replace it.

Also, re: keeping nextel braid from fraying; someone had directed me to a fly-tying video. It was a series of half-hitches used there (with thread). that worked great too, but constricted the braid per slipping it over my "jasl-post"

Yea... I'm thinking that it may just be a matter of keeping it together just long enough to get it over the pos post and wrap a coil. From there just let the coil hold it together. The frayed ends shouldn't hurt anything...

I'm thinking that this stuff may be the best of both worlds... The fine resolution & durability of ss and the insulation properties of ceramic.
The fact that it's a hollow sleeve is a nice bonus!

Yea. I've got mesh in it now... 2.5mm ss wick, wrapped .8mm ribbon wire... .65 ohms.
It's working better than any ceramic setup I've had in it so far.
