Vivi Nova 28g oval coil 1mm hemp wick

Okay; I've got the "new" 2mm hemp twine that BJ43's source made available in my Terminator. Been vaping on it for a few hours now. Great vapor production, recovers *very* fast like the 1mm hemp twine. It recovers faster than "BeadSmith" 2mm that I picked up on Amazon. It's fading in taste a bit faster than BeadSmith,(when chaining) but I think I wound my coil too tight. Let's see how long this holds up

I thought a photo of the 3 twines on a ruler might prove useful:

UPDATE: My remark about the "fading" was wrong. It needed an hour or so to break in.

Great, I am happy to see the 2mm has the same weave as the 1mm.

Considering the good results so far, I may see a dedicated hemp wick thread coming up in the near future... it'd be great as a recap/reference of all of the experiments and attempts you've made thus far.

Great, I am happy to see the 2mm has the same weave as the 1mm.

That weave is definitely better than the BeadSmith, as you know. I just made a coil with the 2mm for a vivi. Works good. Not quite as good as your double 1mm, but still decent. The 2mm in my Terminator is breaking in nicely. The vapor is starting to get nice and more "pillowy" like cotton.

The weave alone doesn't tell the whole story, though... I have a theoretically good-looking, circa 1mm hemp thread, locally sourced, with the same round weave as lovepedal's one, alas it just doesn't work as a wick. Bad capillarity, overhelming smell, you name it...

Now ask me why I've bought 2x 25yds balls from your source, BJ...

As with bamboo, we have shown not all hemp is the same. It is very hard to just read others results when you know they have only tried one and have not compared it to others. I try to stay away from the word "best" unless I have at least 5 different samples and even then the best is just my opinion. I also stay away from the word "flavor" as that really is personal with to many variables. ( time of day, what I ate before vaping, my mood, my wife's mood, just to mention a few that are not even related to the technical aspects of vaping.)

I'm with BJ43 on the subjective taste! There are times of the day when I cannot taste the vape at all. This happens for me after 18 hours of being awake. Like clockwork. I cannot test my DIY mixes around this time. I can't stand the taste of bamboo at all. There are times of the day that hemp tastes fantastic and compliments my flavored vapes. Other times, I think the taste is off. An hour later it's perfection again. When I eat anything with lots of garlic, I can't taste some citrus flavors. Strange indeed!


BJ43's hemp source is the *best* I've tried The 2mm I first bought was great; I got lucky, it happened to be BJ's second place of the ones he tested

The 2mm hemptwine is definitely a keeper for me. It needs longer to break in, but once it's there.. NICE! I haven't tried it in anything other than my Terminator so I can't speak for the AGAs. I have some in a Stardust to see how it does. So far decent, but the 2x1mm hemp is much better imho.

You can use the hemp on the aga? how so? I have to aga-t+ just sitting around not doing anything since I discovered natural fiber wicks are perform much better for me.

Got the 2mm hemp from lovepedal yesterday , haven't counted the strands but at least 12. I have been using two threads in my A7 28g oval coil all day. After about half an hour of vaping at 6 watts to break it in and get any odd flavors worked out, I have been pumping out great vaper at 11 watts off the 2 ohm coil all day. Will put it in a CE5 and Vivi Nova tomorrow.

This is the hemp I got from lovepedal. It has 12 strands. Some have gotten hemp with 7 strands and I can not comment on it as I have not tried it.

I think I finally figured it out. I actually ended up making a SS mesh wick, wet the hemp thread and rolled the SS mesh around the hemp wick. Then I built the coil around that. I left a tapered end with the hemp wick exposed in the bottom of the tank. It blew me away. I would have to say it has been my best experience yet with the AGA-T. Sorry I know this isn't an AGA-T thread - just wanted to clarify what I used it on. I will be making some wicks with hemp alone tomorrow.

So you wound the coil directly on the hemp, or on the SS? I'm trying to get away from SS with the AGA-T2, but I was thinking more of a loop wick like people use on gennys with cotton, with the wick going up from the wick hole, through the coil and back into the tank through either the (remove the silica post first) second hole or the fill hole (a U-wick, effectively) giving it two sources of wicking.

So this wicks well? I pictured a U-wick on a genesis for better wicking.

If you've seen the drunker tank (similar to a ViviNova but the coil has a ceramic cup and it's isolated from the juice), they run wicks up through the coil and back down into the tank. That's what I was figuring would be required to get a Genny-style RBA to wick well enough with hemp or cotton. Hemp twine is on its way so I'll know soon enough.
