ViVi Nova/ aClear Variable Clearomizer Problems

After hearing so many great reviews about the ViVi, I went to buy one for my provari.
I asked if they had the ViVi and they said yes. Not looking at the packaging I didn't notice that it was actually the "aClear"
I don't know if there is a difference but this thing is a pain!
I got it to vape ok for a little while. But after 2 days it just kept giving me the horrible burnt taste.
Changed the "Vapor Core" from a 2.4 Ohm. to a 1.8 ohm.
Again this is on my Provari at about 3.6-3.7V.
I have no idea what is going on.

Should I look for a new tank all together or buy an actual ViVi (2.5)

Also I am vaping a Cinnamon Apple type flavor if that helps...
Not sure of the PG/VG mix

Sort of the same issue here. I also keep reading the words "ViVi Nova" in every other thread. I also have the aClear on top of my Lavatube. From what I can tell, they're the exact same thing with different letters printed on them. I'm using, like I said, the Volcano Lavatube Version 2, with the aClear clearomizer.

I vape at about 4.2V on average with a 2.4 ohm wick. After a few close together hits, I'd get a harsh hit with burnt taste or weak vapor. I can lower the voltage for a few hits and it goes back to normal. Then I can increase it again for the next little bit. I've also tried the tip and roll to wet the wick as much as possible with little to no effect.

I just read a piece of advice that may be helpful, aside from what everyone else has said about the cinnamon flavor. If you raise the rubber cap on top of the center post, it'll improve the wicking. I just lined the cap up with the top of the center post and screwed the top back on. I just tried this as of about 5 minutes ago but it seems to be working.

I'm no pro and can't give you much more than that but I hope it helps, also considering that this thread was created about 3 weeks ago.

Hi - time to link to my blog about what cinnamon (and other "tank cracking" juices) can do to vaping gear (there are lurid pictures too!)

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/the-ocelot/3786-eeekkk-its-melting.html

Thx for the link. I think I'll swap the cinnamon out for some mango in this tank(soon as I find how to clean/change it) & i'll get one of those Kanger protanks unless someone knows a better more choice to go w/... & the pics of what happened...DAYYYUM!! really did some damage.
Thx again for replying so fast. Hopefully I didn't jack up my new clearo.

I found my lavatube mini had a love hate relationship with nova type devices. It would melt the silicone ring around the head. Same nova on an ego battery worked though. Leaves me to the conclusion either the lavatube was causing a short or threaded the device weird. Did it for the regular vivi and a mini but not a knockoff go figure.

Vision is not the greatest gear despite being popular, the original vision models require a bit of fiddling but you can get it to work very well. It also allows you to rebuild coil heads. Some other manufacturers may be easier to work with, I saw a few boge vivi novas that i'm willing to give a shot.

If you want a no-hassle clearo I would highly recommend a kanger T2 (warm) or a T3 (cool). All you have to do is replace the coilhead every now and then. Cut some slots in the silicone wick-cap to control the juiceflow if you're getting burnt tastes when chain-vaping.

I see two issues here - cinnamon juice (or any other that is harmful to plastic) and dry/burnt hits.

Juice that harms plastic will typically make clear plastic unclear and/or will cause plastic to crack. This will not cause dry/burnt hits.

Vivi Nova's that give dry/burnt hits don't wick properly. I have two Vision VN's that are both really great, but the first one needed a bit of coaxing before it played nice. I had to lower the steel ring in the silicone sleeve and install the sleeve positioned a bit high on the head before screwing on the top piece. All has been good with it for a few months now. Since discovering this, I've been doing it with both when I assemble them after cleaning. I'm still on the first heads also. I can't comment on the aClear because I don't have one, but at this point I'm sticking with the Vision product.

BTW, I've been using my first VN with a steel tube for my DIY cinnamon juice and have had no issues with it.

Probably worth noting that ViVi Nova (and Mini) have become a generic name for a particular type of clearo, cranked out by the freight train-load. Some vendors have what seem to be usually good products with an occasional bad one, others the opposite.

There are differences in construction that can cause issues for some users: short versus long-wicks, plastic head cover being cut too long which allows the wick to be pinched versus cut too short which allows flooding, over or understated resistance on the heads, thin cheap shells versus thicker heavier shells, quality of O-rings, etc.

When someone gets a good one, they'll absolutely love it and you'll see rave reviews. When someone gets a bad one, they'll absolutely hate it and trash it.

I like the ViVi, but I only buy from local B&M's where I can look the unit over before making the purchase.
