Vivi Nova's new head

I tried to awaken my problematic Vivi Nova by fitting a new 2.4 ohm head.
Plenty of vapor but practically no throat hit. Resistance reading at the base is fine.
Can anyone make sense of what can be causing the problem?

To add to my post, I vaped with it today, it worked in a fashion producing a slight hit when suddenly it was stone dead.
I removed the head and got no resistance reading. (yesterday 2.4 ohms)
I then fitted my re-built head and it is now working fine.
I can only assume that the wire ends were not properly fixed and one end possibly came loose.
Can anyone suggest another cause?
