Ok. i had posted this in the new member forum, but I didn't get much help there except a comment that I should post my observations here.

I got my VK yesterday, but I didn't try to use it until today.

I had charged the batteries until the little LED on the charger had turned green for both of them.

So, I pop on a carto and first I try just doing a long slow drag (on an auto battery). Breathe out, and...... nothing. The tip lit up, I felt the carto get warm, but no vapor. :sigh:

So, I decided to try the primer puff method. Puff (2-3 seconds), stop, long slow drag, inhale, exhale and....... nothing. Again, the tip lit up, I felt the carto get warm, but no vapor. :sigh again:

I should note that I did get flavor, and I did feel a bit of a throat hit, but no visible vapor.

Frustrated, I decide to try again. I primer puff, this time noticing a little bit of vapor when I release the primer puff. :Woo hoo:, so i take my long drag, inhale, exhale and....... nothing.

I posted these observations and someone asked me if I had only tried the one carto. Not wanting to feel like a douche, I tried another with the same results. Then, just for giggles, I decided to try the cart in my PT. 1-2 second warm up, draw, inhale, exhale and....... vapor! not a ton, but at least it was visible.

So I figured maybe I hadn't charged up my batteries enough even though the charger said they were done. SO, I left a battery on my charger today from about noon until 4 here, took it off the charger and... nothing.

I am using 36mg cartos. Could that be the problem? Or did I get bad batteries?

I was already frustrated that my batteries came with orange LEDs (I really don't want my E-Cig to look even remotely like an analog).

Anyway, that's my rant, and this............ is my plea for help.

PLEASE PLEASE, anyone who knows about these things, help me figure this out. I don't want a bad experience to send me back to analogs and I don't really want to have to start carrying my 501 around with me. I bought the VK for two piece portability.

#1 the passthru is 5 volts and batts are not.
#2 are the carts regular or premium?regulars take a few hits to open up and give vapor.
#3sometimes it takes a few tries to get your draw figured out.keep trying.

The one I have been using all day is a regular, I know that from when I ordered it. The other one that I tried was a bonus that V4L threw in my package, so I don't know, but I'd assume it's a regular. I had read that some take a while to really get going, but I've hit the one cart at least 15 times and it hasn't gotten any better.

I knew the passthrough ran at a higher voltage, that's why I tried it to see if it made the carto work.

Maybe I was just expecting too much, especially since my 501 vapes like a champ, even with an auto battery.

I'll keep trying for a while, if it doesn't improve I guess I will be emailing V4L

Before you give up hope, I would recommend giving the premium cartos a try. It was like night and day for me, as far as vapor/flavor production. In fact, I accidentally put a regular carto on my manual battery the other day and thought the battery was dead! Popped on the premium I was looking for, and got instant satisfaction.

Just a last minute test to see if theres an issue...

When you vape, vape for about 5-6 seconds...hold the vapor in your mouth...do NOT inhale. See the vapor production that is released.

If you get plumes of vapor, you could quite possibly be inhaling too deep, like a cigarette. Vaping and smoking are done VERY differently, with long slow drags.

Don't worry about feeling like a "douche", as we all have had a learning curve, as well as the odd piece of faulty hardware in our times.

What matters is sticking with it, finding out what the issues are, and rockin' it.

If, at the end of the day, it's a battery issue, just email valerie@vapor4life.com and let her know that there is an issue.

A VK set up and a 510 set up DO perform somewhat differently in regards to draw and vapor production, so let's see what happens.

My VK took a couple of days before I really got the hang of the drag.

Post what happens.

Yeah, there is def a learning curve, more for some than others. I think I must have like, extra humid lungs or something, because I've always exhaled lots of vapor (and I direct inhale) but my hubs has a much harder time getting visible vapor with the exact same equipment.

It really just sounds like practice makes perfect here--the draw on a KR8 is a lot different from a 510. Not better or worse, but different.

Most of my cartos have a groove cut in the center post and most of my batteries do not. I do have a few cartos (some V4L and some others) that do not have a groove in them and these will not work on my V4L batteries. I didn't notice it at first but figure one or the other must have a groove in order to get air flow. If neither does, the battery will light but I don't get any vapor, similar to what OP describes.

Well, I tried and tried and couldn't figure anything out, so I broke down and contacted V4L. They were extremely fast responding to my email and they said it sounds like I was having issues with the draw on my batteries. Not sure exactly what that means, I interpreted it as my batteries are not providing enough power to the cartos. Anyway, they said they would replace them, which is cool, but I have to mail them back (stupid shipping) and they told me I could just place a note on an order and they would take care of it.

I hadn't been planning to order anything, so now I'm waiting on a response to see what is going to have to happen now. I guess I could buy a pack of cartos or something just to make it easier, but my original purchase has temporarily emptied my wallet.

If I do order some, I will definitely order premium cartos, since everyone says it's a huge difference.

What is a good tobacco flavor to order from them?
