I'm not sure I saw the post you're talking about, but here's my take on it if you want it:
1) The carts sometimes leak. Your husband (or boyfriend, I forget which) posted that the carts were sticky on the outside. This happens, its not always pleasant, but as you work more with e-liquid you'll get used to a little extra getting on the outside of your carts, or on the outside of your drip tip/carto. Wipe em off and vape on.
2) I was told (this is just 2nd hand information) that you got a mouthful of juice when using the PV you purchased. My guess, and I wasn't there, so yes its a guess, is that you either swallowed part or all of that juice and that is what made you sick.. unless of course you do find out you have an allergy to something in the juice. Leaking pre-filled carts is commonplace, I've had it happen from Blu, Volcano, and generic ones I've purchased. Any time you get e-liquid in your mouth, spit it out.. do not swallow it! Rinse your mouth out with water if you need to. Swallowing e-liquid can and will make you sick.
3) The carts are sometimes over-filled by the factory. Because the FDA is causing so many problems, you won't find too many pre-filled carts in the US. They come from China, and their quality control is probably lacking a bit. You get used to it. When they are overfilled, they can leak into the atty chamber and back through the mouthpiece and cause you to get e-liquid in the mouth. It happens, refer to #2.
4) Volcano to my knowledge does not offer a money-back warranty. I believe this is what was demanded (at least by your husband/boyfriend if not by you). They do however offer a 1-year replacement warranty on all of their products except the atomizers.
As far as them being contaminated.. I doubt it. If you want to send them somewhere for testing, feel free. But be warned, by handling and using them you have already contaminated them with any bacteria you have on your hands. Your results would be skewed.
As far as posters getting defensive, I have no doubt this happens. I've done it. Others have done it. Usually it is in response to troll-like posts that say 'your product sucks', 'cs sucks' etc. Happens with most vendors from time to time.
As for anyone, not just Volcano customers, who is using pre-filled carts, dripping, dipping, cartos, etc. If your cart leaks, wipe it off and try again. If you get liquid in your mouth, do not swallow it. Nicotine can and will make you sick if you ingest it because it gets absorbed much more thoroughly than it does by your lungs, not to mention some of the things vendors use to flavor e-liquids can also make you sick if you ingest them. I'm really sorry you had a bad experience, and hope you give vaping another try whether it is with Volcano or not. Regardless, be more careful with e-liquid, keep it out of the reach of children, and above all.. enjoy vaping.
Oh.. FYI, we are not compensated for posting good comments in the forums. We're only there to try and help other customers get the hang of vaping, just like the users of this forum. The unfortunate sad fact of the Internet is that it makes people feel 10 feet tall and bulletproof. People say and do things they would never do in person because they feel safe doing so on the Internet. I am sorry you had such a bad experience, I assure you the people who were being defensive also were having a bad experience.
